I always try to "shop local," but had a bad experience at this store. I called ahead to make sure they carried the right blanks for keys I needed to copy, and provided the specific key numbers. Other big and little-box stores took the time to check their cross reference books and confirm did not carry the right blanks for my keys. After receiving assurances from Mr. Deakyne that he could copy the keys, I drove there, only to have him "eyeball" the keys and tell me I was out of luck. Since he was unwilling to take 60 seconds to save me a trip, I will no longer waste my time with his store. The other boxes might be big, but they're far more customer friendly. It's the people, not the size, and Deakyne's doesn't have that.

This is a great neighborhood hardware store. The owners are well versed on what you need and where to find it. Don Deakyne still is there part time and, with his son-in law, run a good store. They know what you want and either have it or will get it for you by "Friday".It is much better shopping than the "Big Box" stores.
