My first experience was very nice and professional but my second visit was extremely different. Unfortunately his demeanor changed and I was told to return when I had money to buy. He was not interested in buying other pieces of jewelry that I had (definitely not scrap). and this was in front of other employees. It was a humiliating experience. To top it all off, he forgot that I had called and made a meeting with him so he was late. I would not recommend this shop to anyone that I know.

This is the nicest pawn shop I've ever been to! Michael Strauss personally helped me & He cares a lot about his customers. I would recommend them to anyone wanting to pawn something!

An expert in my opinion... 10,000 hours or more in one area or field in considereded an expert. Michael Strauss defineatly fits that mold. Never rushed, explained the market in ten minutes and paid me way more than the local chains that "claim they pay the most"Worth my time investigating. Paid us way more than we were expecting... amazed, really. Explained the market in five minutes and made me feel very comfortable. $ per gram beat the other guys by 20%. Flipped me out. Definately worth the drive. I suggest anyone would be thrilled to get the service and outpouring support in a new process. Uptown Pawn is my new favorite place. Certainly, my (our) pawnstar !

Paid me an overall average of 56% of spot price for scrap gold and silver jewelry (34% for silver, 70% for 10K gold and 51% for 14k gold). Basically gave me the same price per gram for 14K as for 10K which I didn't realize until I got home and used a calculator. I had asked about the 10K and *assumed* (stupid me right?) that the percentage using price per gram would be the same for the 14K. Cost me about $500 (uff) compared to what I could have gotten many other places. Learn from me - know your prices and go to more than one shop. You can go to a number of other places in the Twin Cities and do much better than 56%. Or go on ebay or online to a refiner and get a better price (80 - 90% or more of spot price). 56% falls on the LOW end of the 50% - 80% that is considered a "reasonable" percentage to get for your scrap gold and silver. Do your research before going in so you know what is a fair per gram price.

Amazing pawn shop! This was my first pawn shop experience and I am truly impressed. The owner, Michael, genuinely cares about his customer base and his customer service is **outstanding**. I decided to take my old gold and silver in to Uptown Pawn based on the great reviews this store has. Those reviews are well earned. Uptown Pawn paid me an excellent price for my gold. If you research what is considered a fair price for scrap gold, they are at the upper end of that percentage range. Extremely fair and reputable, top notch customer service and pays top dollar for gold. I would highly recommend this shop!

Paid about 60% of spot price for scrap gold and silver jewelry. Very nice people. Yes - you could probably go on ebay or online to a refiner and get a better price, but if you don't want the hassle of running around or dealing with online buyers, this is the way to go. Easy transaction and 60% falls within the 50% - 80% that is considered a reasonable percentage to get for your scrap gold.

Absolutely amazing! My wife and I got the run around at a number of the local "trusted jewelers" before we finally found Bobby and Michael at Uptown Pawn. I had just about given up on finding somebody honest and helpful in the jewelry business so I was totally shocked at how well we were treated at Uptown Pawn. The diamonds they found for us were absolutely amazing and the prices were incredible. We would highly recommend them and I'm sure we'll be back!

I called all over and couldn't get someone to give me the time of day. Micheal (the owner) picked up the phone and gave me the best quote on my old diamonds from a previous relationship. In fact he was so nice I even got a great price from some gold rings that were NOT in style any more. Thank you!
