A year ago I was looking for a Karate Academy for my then 6 yr old son that was having discipline issues along with separation anxiety to the point that if I was not in view he would start crying hysterically. I was wanting to find an academy that could mentor him and make him feel safe and loved all at the same time... I went to over 5 different places only to find that all had an afterschool care and not a true Academy feel. I finally drove 20 mins American Karate Institute and was greeted by Mrs.G and Master G. We were allowed to sit inside the Dogo and had my son participate in a class... He loved it!!! It will be a year in Feb and I could not be happier. My son no longer cries and we have been able to leave him without a worry in the world... They are a true Academy, They do not just hand out black belts you have to earn it . They have been a blessing in our lives and they will be stuck with us for life.... The communication with the Sensei's is amazing if your child is not doing well in school or acting up they take the time to speak to the child and as it were their own and get to the bottom of the problem... American Karate Institute is truly a family and they welcome you with open arms.... We have grown very close to them all and I can see how they have been in business for 30 yrs. Because not only are they all great instructors but wonderful loving people. I highly recommend this Academy and trust me once your there you will never go else were.......

2 years ago when I was searching for a school for my 8 year old son I called American Karate Institute for information. I was astonished when they suggested that I visit as many schools as possible before enrolling in any martial arts school so that I could investigate and observe how different schools conduct their classes. I took their advice and left them for last and I am glad I did. Now I know why American Karate Institute is Miami’s most popular mixed martial arts (MMA) training center for kids, teens and adults in the Miami/Kendall area.
