I visit this store when I'm in a rush or the big box stores dont have what I need. I used to think that the employees were helpful, but I have come to feel that they suspect that certain groups of people visit their store only to steal. Ive been followed, caught the glances, overheard conversations in regards to my location in the store etc. etc . In all honesty I have sensed the racial prejudice at this store for years. I still visit the store because it is so obvious what is happening. I will joke with my wife that Im going to Ace Hardware so that they can follow me around. It is a source of amusement for me that in this day and age you can have such racist and prejudiced people. I joke about this place with my buddies and we all get a good laugh out of it. Its ok if you think Im imagining this or that I am overly sensitive. But if this scenario happens over and over for 10 plus years then there is a problem.

I will not shop at Lenhart's again. I went to the register with my purchase and ask for my military discount as I have been given at other Ace Hardwares in Mesa and was told they do not give military discounts. That this was a personal decision by the owner and it was his choice.....so it is my choice to never shop their again!

I used to love this store as they typically carry some things that the big box stores don't. After my last visit there and being treated as though I was there to rob them blind, simply because I was browsing the store and getting ideas for a project I'm working on, I've decided I'll just take my business elsewhere from now on. I guess if you don't fit whatever their normal clientele might be, or just want to browse around a bit then they assume you're there to steal from them.
