My complaints have nothing to do with tax prep errors, but rather absolute lack of accountability, accessibility and professional conduct one expects from an American based company.



My first experience came in 2013, when I was misled into believing J.H. would contribute $30.00 to a children's non-profit, if I used their service.



Only after I completed my return was I told, "We're not participating in that promotion."



The office fax machine didn't work. The computer broke down after three hours of data entry. Two days later I received a call that the materials I sent to IRS were all blank due to a printing machine error!



After receving word of an audit request, just reaching someone took weeks. The owner of the franchise lives nearly 2,000 miles away from his offices and had his calls forwarded to a relative's home where no one spoke English.



I'm still waiting his call back and it's been three months!



When I reached out to a different J.H. office to review my return, they informed me they were owned by a different franchisee and I'd have to pay a fee for them to review my return!



I STRONGLY ADVISE AGAINST empoying Jackson Hewitt to do your taxes. They're a disgrace.



Absolutely the worst experience I've ever encountered in tax preparation - not because of errors in the actual preparation (that has still to be decided - but rather, the absolute lack of accountability and accessibility to their corporate structure to ensure quality control.

While I couldn't reach an executive, I was successful reaching one of their public relations contratctors.



Even then, the franchise owner never returned my calls (his number was forwarded to his mother's home over a thousand miles away. She spoke no English and I felt terrible when I learned the owner didn't have the class to call me back - he had his mom do so! Nice.



My first visit, the computer broke down after three hours of data entry. Then, the preparer stuffed my IRS envelope with blank papers! I'm sure IRS loved opening THAT envelope. Not.



Today, I was told that if I wanted my old return reviewed, I'd have to pay a fee since they weren't part of the same franchise. SLEAZE SLEAZE is the only feeling I get when I call these folks.



Oh, I did get a nice woman in the Philippines who could hardly understand me through the line static.



One last note: I went to JH becaause they advertised a donation to a children's charity for those of us who had JH do our taxes. My office said "We're not involved," after they finished.



Under no circumstances would I recommend this company. Back to the BLOCK.
