When Paul Karas and his brother George bought The Village Squire in 1974, it had already gone through some major changes. It was originally named "The Swiss Chalet" in the 1950's, with white tablecloths, turquoise upholstered chairs, and light brown woodwork all the way up to the vaulted ceiling. After a major fire destroyed much of the building in the mid 1960's (? - we think!), it was remodeled and renamed The Village Squire. Mostly a dark tavern lit by candles and littered with peanut shells on the floor, Paul and George promptly closed it down for a few weeks after they purchased the restaurant in 1974. They changed the menu from eight items to twelve items, switched from peanuts to popcorn, and did a little bit of remodeling before reopening in early 1975. Some of our original menu items included the Gyros sandwich, Reuben, beef sandwich, grilled cheese sandwich, souvlaki, steak sandwich, fish sandwich, fish and chips, hamburger, and hot dog.

THIS Place has a Great Medieval Ambiance... The Food,, was Horrible!!
It was like Fried and Grilled with Grease.. The Garlic Mash potatoes were full of Oil!
Not even good for Kid Food! The place needs to upgrade the Cooks with Healthier
Cooks,, who take Pride in what they make and serve...Even the Greek Soup was like a Chicken Lemon Mash potato! They really need to hire someone that has some professional Back round with Healthier eating,,.. Sad a very Disappointed!
If your going out for some Junk food this is the Place or you can Blow this Pop Stand!

Wow! Wow! I have to say I have had quite a few rude waitresses but up and til this evening my hubby and I were planning on not returning. But we encountered Lindsay and what a wonderful caring person. She waited on us and we were kinda undecided on what we wanted to eat. She helped us decide. And oh are we glad we took her advice. Because our food was delicious!!

The waitress we had was very rude. My husband and I have gone to the restaurant for years. One bad waitress put a very sour taste in our mouths and we have not gone back. I am surprised because she was an older woman and you think she would of known better. We tipped her more than the required amount and she had a fit. Very unprofessional.
