Be careful! I bought a dresse...

Be careful! I bought a dresser there April 18, 2012. The young lady who assisted me was very helpful and kind. She and some people who were working in their own rented booths assisted with the loading. Unfortunately a chunk of one of the feet came out as the dresser was moved; however, nobody noticed the missing piece, and it wasn't discovered until the next day when my son came to help me unload the dresser from back of my station wagon. I called the antique mall to ask about the missing piece, and it was found by a man who was working at the mall (but who had not been there the day before). He said it was obvious that it had been glued in before.

When I returned to the antique mall to retrieve the missing piece (a round-trip of 50 miles), I asked if the seller had been contacted about a possible discount on the price. I was told no, and the owner of the mall, Debbie, added that the transaction had already been processed. The gentleman who had found the piece asked if I wanted to return the dresser, but I told him no. It's a perfect fit in my bedroom and with my other furniture, and I had already invested much time and mileage in the purchase.

All I wanted was some gesture of good will, an acknowledgement that the item purchased was not in the condition it had appeared to be. I was polite and non-accusatory when I called to ask about the missing piece. I'd like to believe the seller might have even been gracious enough to offer a small discount, but the people at the counter did not want to be bothered to give him a call. The missing piece can be glued in I’ll live with the resulting imperfection in the dresser. But I was pretty shocked by the unconcerned attitude, especially considering that this is a newly opened business that should be working hard on customer service. The most disappointing thing is, nobody even said, “we’re sorry for your trouble.”

My Mom and I stopped there for the first time and we heard the best stories from the gentleman working the counter. I got a great deal on the deerskin rug and I may be back for the deer heads. My Mom LOVES the purple bustier she bought, great for her southern bell dress. I will be returning time and time again just to see the new stuff AND to hear the great stories!!! Will tell everyone what a great shop with good prices. Thanks Debby
