Dr, Roger Lucas does fine if your child just needs a checkup. If your child needs general anesthesia, he also does good work. His staff is fantastic as well. But if your child needs local anesthesia for a cavity - BEWARE. My 4 year old was uncomfortable at times as she was getting her mouth numbed. His staff was gentle and patient and helped her through everything. She calmed down rather quickly each time there was a problem. When Dr. Lucas came in, she complained that her stomach hurt. His staff took off the gas and seemed willing to give her stomach time to calm down. She was whimpering a bit and Dr. Lucas asked her to stop crying. He said he didn't want to work on her while she cried. When she didn't calm down in 30 seconds, he took all the stuff out of her mouth and said he couldn't work on her. She was calm within a minute of being taken off the gas, but because of his impatience, she spent several hours with a numb mouth and still has a sore tooth.

My daughter has been going to Dr. Lucas for a couple of years, and we have always been very happy with his thoroughness and great ability to interact with children. His office is well-run, and we have never had to wait for more than a few minutes after our appointment time. Tonight, however, we found out not only how good of a dentist, but also what a great person, Dr. Lucas is.When I picked up my daughter from her after school care at 6 pm on a Friday, she was in tears. She had hit her tooth while trying to climb up a slide and was in so much pain she couldn't stop crying. I called Dr. Lucas' office, expecting to get a recording that would tell me of an emergency dentist I could contact. To my surprise, it had Dr. Lucas' cell phone number for existing patients.I called and described the situation to him. This was at 6:30 on a Friday night, and even though he was already at home with his wife and newborn child, he offered to meet us at his office. Without his assistants who were obvi
