IBIS was founded by sole owner, Barbara Patten, in 1989. Barbara began her business to provide German books for individuals and universities. As the business grew, it was apparent that her customers needed other imports, also. She expanded IBIS to include French in 1990 and Italian in 2007. In 1999, Barbara moved IBIS to a 15, 000 sq. ft. building on the Square in Lynchburg, Tennessee, home of the world-famous Jack Daniel Distilley. Barbara strives to provide a personalized service for her customers by delivering items quickly and efficiently at a price that's fair to everyone. Barbara's expertise is in German books since she speaks German fluently. Barbara loves this location, and she is an avid supporter in the community. Lynchburg is the only location for IBIS. IBIS handles a very large volume of titles every year with very few employees. A normal day consists of Barbara taking orders over the phone, quoting inquiries, and just giving her personal service to all of her customers. If shipping is the question, Mark Kraus is the answer. Mark is native German and has been with the IBIS family since 1997. He is THE SHIPPER. Mark meticulously wraps your books to ensure they arrive in the best condition. This is a huge job in which Mark excels greatly.
