this hospital is horrible

The nurses appear to start at barely competent and strive to fail their patients at every turn. We were i formed that my husband missed his scheduled meds because the murse had a really long boring meeting and once that was over she had other things to do. We just had to wait, for scheduled meds. That delay resulted in an escalation of symptons which again garnered an astounding lack of concern for their patient.
The doctors seemed to be marginally more competent than the nursing staff. One Dr. came in looked at my husband for a.minute asked him a few questions and diagnosed him. Never bothered to read his most current labs or get his history. (Turns out he was wrong, but again thanks for guessing)
This is our first experience with the Jewish Hospitals and it will be our last. Next time we have an emergency we will drive right by 2 Jewish hospitals to obtain quality care at Norton or Baptist.

Do not use this hospital. I was admitted for a single night for observation after asurgery on my arm. I had come in from northern Ohio for the surgery with a specialist.

The nurses had no idea how to take care of me. I received inadequate pain management and they didn't even provide basic care, like elevation and ice. They basically left me to languish in agony. Their excuse was that they didn't have experience caring for my type of surgery. They also said they were very busy that night. These people literally did nothing for me. Horrible experience.

I wouldn't recommend this hospital to my worse enemy! My dad was there for a week & there was only 1 nurse & 1 aide that new about patient care. From the ER to discharge time was the worse experience my dad had. I wish we would of chosen a better hospital, but we were told Jewish was the best NOT! The whole experience was awful the nurses were uncaring to my dads needs. My dad was not only insulted by some, but ignored also when he called for asst. we would have to call the nurse station.(sometimes that didn't work)The room wasn't clean they even performed a procedure in the room(I felt it should of been done in a sanitary room).I don't even think they deserve 1 star.I know this probably won't be read my anyone at Jewish.I hope by me writing this it will save another family from using this Hospital. You should feel your loved one is taken care of when they are in a Hospital, and not in an
uncaring, unsanitary facility where you have to worry about here care. The only good thing about this Hospital is the dietary staff & food.

NO! NO! Never use this place. I was a witness on June 5, 2014 when an indigent stroke victim was shown the door after being brought in by EMS.
Another hospital viewed this patient as a human being and thankfully this double victim is now receiving medical attention. This person was not ambulatory and persons in scrubs demanded their chair at the E room door. Thank goodness that I was there or the patient would have been sat on the ground.
This person was in very bad shape and I've never thought this kind behavior happened in Louisville, Ky. NO! NO! Never

I will never again go to Jewish hospital ER! I was taken there by ambulance because I was having chest pains. Was taken off the stretcher and told to wait in the waiting room. Five hours I sat there waiting.
Then, 12 hours later, I was discharged. I explained to the staff that because I came by ambulance that I did not have my phone, money, or purse and did not know any of my contacts numbers by heart. Staff let me know that this was not their problem. I went and sat in the waiting room hoping that my daughter would pick me up after taking her kids to school, and security told me I could not sit in the waiting room and that I had to leave the hospital. NEVER have I ever felt so uncared for!!! ...I hope I never end up at this hospital again! I will crawl on my hands and knees to a Norton’s if I have to!

My husband died there from an allergy to medication, which I brought to their attention on numerous occasions. He was allergic to Heparin and his arms, legs and kidneys filled with blood clots and turned as black as coal. The doctor (if one could call her that) said I'm sorry. I've been trying to get his medical records for months.

I just had a cardiodefibrilator implanted here due to cardiomyopathy. While the surgeon did an excellent job the experience was miserable. First, they simply refuse to listen to either patients or their own instruments. They insisted that because I was there for a heart problem and was being treated with an ace inhibitor, I MUST have high blood pressure, despite their own tests showing it to be LOW during the entire stay and my complete medical history never showing high blood pressure even once. Secondly, with a couple of notable exceptions, the staff is absolutely terrible! During my prep, no fewer than four staff members spent a combined 30 minutes complaining to me about how busy they were. Not apologizing, complaining. When my

IV antibiotic ran out, I called to let them know, but no one did anything bout it until I called again to tell them there was now air in the line. Getting my pain medication required asking five different people and took nearly an hour. Nearly everyone, again with one or two exceptions, was rude, dismissive, and acted as if they'd rather be anywhere else and that I was a horrible bother for being treated there.

NO WAY! I have walked out of Jewish South ER on 3 occassions because the doctors talk down to you and not like a patient nor with good bedside manners. Last time I walked out was yesterday after believing I had a 3rd heart attack. I'd rather die than listen to a doctor talk down to me. I have walked out of downtown ER once because a male nurse treated me like trash saying "All you people come into the ER thinking you can get free care" I have Medicare, Medicade and Passport. Believe me my vist wasn't free!

OMG. I would NEVER use this hospital again. The nursing staff is the absolute WORST I have ever encountered. Rude, arrogant, unhelpful. My relative has Down Syndrome. One of the nurses was screaming questions at her. She is NOT deaf and has incredibly sensitive hearing. We were left in a "holding area" for hours and hours after surgery with not one single nurse asking us if we needed anything; in fact, not even taking our relative's vitals or checking on her. Someone needs to do an investigation in their practices. My husband even witnessed two nurses getting into an argument about lunch hours with voices becoming loud and agitated. Are you reading this Jewish Hospital? You should be ashamed as there is an obvious disconnect between upper management and their nursing staff. I have a letter already written to the administrator.

Do not use this hospital.

Was scheduled for heart bypass and the nurses at the hospital did not get me down to OR in time for the surgery. I have been in the hospital for 4 days now and no one has came in to clean the room or floors. When I first came in the room there was black spots on the floor from someone spilling there drink and was never cleaned up. Who knows how long it has been since this room has been cleaned up. Very dirty hospital and no one knows what the hell is going on. Believe me, do not go to Jewish, you will be very disappointed.

Excellent Hospital

My husband has been in this hospital for major surgeries on 2 occassions. Both times, the nurses were excellent, the overall experience was exceptional. We highly recommend this facility and their staff.

Patient Care

While Jewish Hospita may be in the top 50 hospitals for development, I would not recommend them on the basis of their patient care practices. I have observed a lack of personal for propper patient transfer after surgery, failure to follow directions on their IV bags, concerning he mixing of antibiotic, not raising bed rails for a Alhizemers patient, giving pain medication that they were told had a bad effect on the patient, and generaly non-rsponsive to the patients family, not informing the patients family as to the patients surgery time,
