The Sunset Ladder Company was established on the infamous Sunset Blvd in 1929. After a brief foray into furniture manufacturing ladder products were Added. Wooden ladders and scaffold planks became more popular and the other products were discontinued. Shortly after the Great Depression the original founder sold the fledgling Company to Mr. Grant Ostergard for the tidy sum of $300.00. With the requirement for ladders and scaffolding equipment steadily growing and the expansion of Hollywood and it's Movie industry Grant found ladders were in great demand. With the building boom of the Los Angeles area well under way Sunset Ladder became a important supplier to the construction trade as well as the movie studios.
