How to Schedule Manicures for the Groomsmen
Manicures can make sure the groomsmen look good
By Julie Hampton
While the woman of the bridal party traditionally get spoiled during a visit to the beauty salon, men have often been forgotten about when beauty rituals are involved. However, times have changed and men are just as likely to visit a day spa for pampering, including getting manicures.
- What You Need to Know
- Explain to the groomsmen that importance of getting a manicure prior to the wedding ceremony.
- The best way to ensure that all the men will attend their manicure appointment is to schedule them together as a group.
- Find convenient manicurists and barbers and see if they have availability in the days leading up to the wedding. Also ask if they would offer a group discount.
Step 1:
Emphasize that nails need to look clean and polished, and that many barbershop now offer the services, not just day spas. Talk about the manicure process, that nails will be buffed and filed, and cuticles removed and cut. Remind the gentleman to arrive with clean nails, free of dirt and debris. Be sure to win over the groom -- if he's convinced that a manicure is a good idea, his groomsmen are more likely to follow.
Step 2:
Select a time that works with all the groomsmen's schedule within four days of the wedding ceremony. Try to bundle their manicure appointments with other pre-wedding events in order to make sure that the men will all be in attendance. Perhaps you can schedule their appointments between the groomsmen lunch and the ceremony rehearsal or between the rehearsal and the rehearsal dinner.
Step 3:
Make the appointment with the selected barbershop or day spa. Call the salon and ask if they have availability for the number of groomsmen in the party. Explain the session is for a bridal party of groomsmen. Book the appointment over the phone. Call or email the groomsmen and inform them of the scheduled appointment time.
Step 4:
Organize a carpool to transport the groom and groomsmen to the salon or barbershop. Depending on the size of your party, you can rent a limo or a party bus to make it more of a celebratory occasion.
Step 5:
- Tips & Warnings
- Keep it lighthearted. If a groomsman strongly objects to a manicure, don't push the issue.
- To make groomsmen manicures a more lively event, coordinate with the bridesmaids to have their manicures done at the same salon around the same time.
- Send an e-mail a couple of days in advance to remind the groomsmen of the appointment.

Planning Reminder:
From hand to toe
Make sure those hands are properly pampered pre-wedding. Between ring exchanges and wedding cake-cutting photos, your hands need to be ready for their close-up. Pamper your feet, too, for any open-toe shoes situation or just to feel better.
