How To Find a Wedding Chapel in Las Vegas
Quickie ceremonies or elegant hotel receptions, this town covers it all
By Sandy Mitchell
There are dozens of wedding chapels in and around Las Vegas. These range from small, independent chapels (such as the Little White Wedding Chapel) to Elvis (and other-themed) chapels (such as the Graceland Wedding Chapel) to chapels within resort properties, such as Caesar's Palace. You can even get married without leaving your limo or car. There's virtually something for every taste.
- What You Need to Know
- With no waiting for a license, and plenty of 24-hour chapels, Las Vegas is an easy town to get married in. But avoid Valentine's Day and New Year's Eve, the two most popular Vegas wedding dates, when you'll likely have to stand in line for a turn at the altar.
- All the major Vegas hotels offer wedding packages, so shop around for your best deal on room rates and wedding services.
Pick a location. Las Vegas wedding chapels are located throughout the city, with the majority located on or around the Las Vegas Strip (a.k.a. Las Vegas Boulevard). You'll also find a smattering of chapels in downtown Las Vegas, on and around Fremont Street.
Choose a theme. Las Vegas wedding chapel themes run the gamut from traditional to campy. The major resort hotel chapels tend to follow the theme of the resort. (For instance, the wedding chapel at the Excalibur Hotel has Medieval-style windows, and you can get married in Renaissance garb; the chapel at Paris Las Vegas has a French theme.) Independent chapels range from Gothic weddings to Elvis to white ribbons and lace.
Decide on a drive-through or traditional wedding. Your Las Vegas wedding can be as traditional or a quirky and personalized as you desire. Have an elegant ceremony at one of the city's luxury resort chapels, such as the one at the Bellagio Resort, or opt for a drive-through wedding complete with music, flowers and Little White Chapel's Tunnel of Love.
Opt for extras. Each chapel offers slightly different packages and amenities. For instance, at Cupid's Wedding Chapel, you can have doves released as part of the ceremony, and at the Elvis Chapel in downtown Las Vegas, you can get married by the "King" himself.
Get married on your schedule. Las Vegas may be the easiest town in the world to get married. There's no blood test and no waiting period for a marriage license and the downtown marriage license bureau is open from 8 AM to midnight, 365 days a year. Many chapels perform ceremonies till midnight and some are even open 24 hours. Don't expect to linger in a Vegas wedding chapel for longer than the kiss, though. In most places, the next couple is already waiting.

Research marriage licenses
Before you get married in an exotic locale, make sure you take all the steps necessary to make that marriage official. If an event planner is helping you with your plans, start by asking them the lowdown on marriage licenses in that country. Otherwise, the country's registrar's website is a good place to go.
