How to Do a Cleansing Diet Before a Wedding
Detox your system and get that certain glow for your wedding day

Cleanses rid the colon and liver of toxins in the body and can help you shed a few pounds; however, they should be approached with care. As with any diet, use common sense and avoid extreme approaches that can be unhealthy. After completing a sensible cleanse, you may see improvements to your hair, skin and nails. Consult your doctor before starting any diet or cleansing regime.
- What You Need to Know
- Gather your ingredients before embarking on your cleansing diet. Be aware that some cleanses require lots of fresh fruits and vegetables, which can get pricey.
Add the herbal fiber psyllium to your diet. Psyllium provides the body with natural fiber to rid the colon of toxins and waste that may build up. The dried husks come in chopped and powdered form. Psyllium is also available in capsules and tablets. Some diet experts recommend cleaning out your system with psyllium once a week on a regular basis. For a cleansing diet, take a psyllium drink by adding powdered psyllium to water or juice for a couple of weeks. Be sure to only do what your body can handle and drink plenty of water. Do not take psyllium if you are allergic to it.
The Master Cleanse Diet, which consists solely of a lemonade concoction combined with maple syrup and cayenne pepper, became popular as a quick weight loss technique with celebrities, such as Beyonce and Jude Law. However, many view this cleanse as a dangerous approach to weight loss. As an alternative to the Master Cleanse Diet, other celebrities, such as Gwyneth Paltrow and Oprah Winfrey, opt for a cleanse that eliminates dairy, caffeine, processed foods, sugar, alcohol, gluten and/or animal products for up to a seven-day period. Paltrow's regime, developed by detox diet specialist Dr. Alejandro Junger, includes a glass of lukewarm lemon water in the morning to get the system moving, followed by herbal tea without sweeteners, and five small meals and snacks that focus on vegetables, freshly made juices and fish.
Look to raw vegetables to clean out your system. Drink only pure vegetable juices over a three-day period; the juices will supply you with needed nutrients and will take the place of regular meals. Blend 12 ounces of purified water with juiced lettuce, spinach, carrots, cucumbers and celery. Drink this mixture throughout the day when hunger hits. Drink at least 60 ounces of water a day, along with the mixture. As with all diets, stop immediately if you encounter any adverse reactions.
