You fully intended to join the gym and start a diet to help you drop those last twenty pounds before the wedding, but you find yourself with only one month to go and still carrying the extra baggage. While you can't benefit from a slow and steady diet, you can still drop the excess weight by choosing a more vigorous routine. It's time to rev up your engine and speed down the highway toward a slimmer you by following a 30-day diet plan.

  • What You Need to Know
  • A variety of 30-day diet plans are on the market today ranging from calorie restriction to extreme exercise.
  • The most important aspect when choosing a diet plan is choosing one you can stick to.
  • If you are planning on losing a lot of weight fast, you will probably gain it back after 30 days.
  • If you don't have the time or money for a personal trainer, look into "wedding boot camps" that can get you on a great cardio and weightlifting routine with other brides- and grooms-to-be.

Step 1:

Choose a 30-day diet plan to follow. Find a diet that includes food you can actually stick with. If you hate vegetables and the diet you choose is composed mainly of cabbage, cucumbers and celery, you are more likely to fall off the wagon and steer back into bad eating habits. So choose one with a variety of foods that you can handle eating for the long haul.

Step 2:

Exercise. Cutting calories alone won't help you drop the significant amount of weight you desire in such a short period of time. You're going to have to stick to your guns and force yourself to work out every day. Even if it's something as simple as walking at the track or on a treadmill, you need to make it a daily habit.

Step 3:

If you have the budget for it, consider hiring a personal trainer. Personal trainers don't just plan and oversee your workouts; they also usually lay out a plan for your diet and nutrition. If you don't have the time or money for a personal trainer or a gym, there are plenty of workout DVDs you can invest in to help you reach your goal. A nice middle ground is a "bridal boot camp," where other bride- and groom-to-bes wake up early to work out together at a local park.

Step 4:

Cleanse your colon. Colon cleansers flush your body of toxins and parasites that build up within your body over the years. Many celebrities have had success when trying to lose weight in a small period of time by using such products. Visit your local health food store to see what colon cleansers they sell and recommend.

Step 5:

Stay motivated. Do whatever it takes to keep your eyes on the prize. Post pictures on your refrigerator of hot models. Visualize how sexy you will look on your wedding day if you stick to the plan. Think about how great it will feel to finally be in shape. Buy some skimpy lingerie to wear on your honeymoon, and look at it everyday as a constant reminder.

  • Tips & Warnings
  • As always, consult your physician before starting any diet.
  • Think about enlisting a friend (perhaps a bridesmaid) to do the diet with you.
  • Remember to start the diet in advance of your wedding, just in case alterations need to be made on your dress.
