Gift Ideas for a Bachelorette Party
Add spice to the bride's gifts
By Julie Hampton
Tupperware and china place settings belong at the bridal shower, not at a bachelorette party. This women-only party is a last chance for the bride to go out on the town as a single woman. Bachelorette party gifts include everything from gag gifts to lingerie to add spice to the bride and groom's honeymoon.
Kama Sutra
Give the bride the quintessential tell-all book on lovemaking, the Kama Sutra. The book is based on the ancient eastern art of making love. Adult in nature, the book includes pictures, diagrams and techniques. You'll find a variety of different versions at most bookstores. Just make sure your bride-to-be isn't faint of heart and won't be scandalized by your present.
Lingerie
The staple gift of the bachelorette party is lingerie. Choose items the bride will actually wear instead of over-the-top gag gifts. Because it may be difficult to determine the bride's size, ask the maid of honor if there is a lingerie registry. If the bride isn't registered at a particular store, choose loose flowing nightgowns, tank tops and robes where size is easier to choose. Stockings, garter belts and even a feather boa make fun gifts for the bride.
Custom tank top
Another classic bachelorette party gift is the custom tank top. Have it printed "Just married" or write your own newlywed-appropriate saying. If you want to kick things up a notch, customize the shirt with glitter or beads and other. Give the bride a matching pair of boy-cut shorts.
Bath and body items
Create a basket of lotions, massage oils and other treats for the bride and groom to use during their honeymoon. Include essential oils such as lavender and citrus. Body washes, loofahs and massage toys can make a lighthearted intimate gift. Add a touch of sweetness by adding a few pieces of chocolate. Include a CD of romantic love songs.
Honeymoon basket
Put together a basket of all-time favorite chick flicks. Add a few bags of popcorn, candy and a bottle of wine. Wrap the basket in tulle and tie with a pink ribbon. Fill the basket with romantic books if the bride is a reader. Add bookmarks and a journal and pen to the basket so the bride can create a diary of her first days as a newlywed.
Wedding advice
Have each person attending the bachelorette party give advice to the bride-to-be. Pass around a small notebook so each guest can write comments, jokes and words of advice. Present the book to the bride after the bachelorette party along with pictures of the party.
