Engraved Wedding Party Gifts
Delight your bridesmaids and groomsmen with a personalized souvenir from your wedding
By Cynthia Myers
It's traditional to give gifts to members of your wedding party to thank them for their participation in and help with your wedding. Choose items you know your bridesmaids and groomsmen will enjoy, then personalize the item by having the gift engraved with their monogram or name. While the gifts may be from both of you, ideally the groom should choose gifts for the groomsmen and the bride should select presents for her bridesmaids.
Gifts for Groomsmen: Key Fobs
Choose a classy silver or silver and leather key fob. Opt for a simple silver oval, a geometric shape or a sculptured shape such as a tiger's head, horseshoe or dog.
Money Clip
A money clip is masculine, useful and can be easily engraved not only with the man's name or initials, but with a message of your choice to remind him of your friendship.
Flasks
An engraved silver flask is the kind of gift many men enjoy but few buy for themselves. Whether they tuck it into a backpack on their next camping trip or take it to a tailgaiting party on a frosty fall evening at the football stadium, it's a groomsmen favorite.
Bar Items
Shot glasses, pilsner glasses or martini shakers can be engraved for another useful and thoughtful gift most men will appreciate. If your friends prefer wine, gift them with an engraved silver wine stopper.
Gifts for Bridesmaids: Jewelry
Silver bracelets, earrings or charms will please most bridesmaids, especially if they're engraved with their initials, name or a romantic sentiment. Simple lockets or silver hair clips are other nice choices.
Jewelry Box
A small silver box is perfect for storing rings, pens or even paperclips on her desk. Choose a different design for each bridesmaid and add her initials to the top.
Compact
A simple silver compact is both beautiful and useful. Like the men's flask, it's the kind of thing most women would love but few buy for themselves. Engrave her initials on the outside and a special message on the inside.
Ring Bearer and Flower Girl
Don't forget the youngest members of your wedding party. Girls will appreciate a small silver bracelet, hair clip or charm. Give the ring bearer a box to store his treasures, a small silver spyglass or -- depending on his age and if his parents don't object -- a small pocketknife engraved with his initials.

Planning Reminder:
That special something
Sometimes new spouses celebrate by exchanging gifts. This can be as big or as small a gift as you'd like it to be. But be sure to tell your fiance you'd like to exchange gifts in advance, so they're not caught off-guard and empty-handed when you present your token of affection.
