Christmas Bridal Shower Ideas
Use the holiday season to inspire wedding festivities during the holiday season
By Debby Mayne
For a wedding close to the Christmas holidays, draw inspiration from holiday decorations and traditions to celebrate both the bride and the holiday season. By using a little creativity and a few subtle touches you can thrill any bride and still be holiday-ready.
Christmas Bridal Shower Invitations
You can approach this in two ways: either mail out holiday themed invitations to bridal shower guests, or else use pre-printed sheets that you can slip into your Christmas cards. Your sheet can include the particulars, such as date and time, as well as specific instructions such as food to bring.
Christmas Bridal Shower Refreshments
Make sandwiches cut with holiday cookie cutters, or serve a platter of red and green vegetables with white ranch sauce for dipping. Provide a platter filled with decorated holiday cookies, or have guests bring their favorite cookies with recipe cards for the other guests to take home. For drinks, serve festive red punch or holiday eggnog.
Christmas Bridal Shower Gifts
Send the guests a list of Christmas decorations the bride and her new groom need for their first Christmas together. Ask them to use either store-bought or homemade ornaments. Other gift ideas may be bake ware or place settings with a Christmas theme, or other items that a couple may need for the holiday season.
Christmas Bridal Shower Favors
One novel and fun idea is to send each guest home with an ornament or apron decorated by you. You could also have guests make or decorate Christmas ornaments during the party that they take home, exchange or give away to the bride. If you have the guests bring cookies and recipe cards to share, provide them with bright and festive bags and recipe file boxes.
Extra Gift for the Bride
Personalize a group gift from everyone at the shower. Have each guest sign a Christmas tree skirt or a set of ornaments to remember her friends on this special day. You might even want to give her a miniature "friendship" tree to hang her new ornaments on.

Planning Reminder:
Plan bridal shower
The maid of honor will likely head this up, though some brides have multiple showers thrown by people from different walks of their life. Your hostess may request a list of invitees from the bride. Be sure to express any preferences you have -- from including the boys to game requests or omissions.
