Hi, I'm Albert McDonald with Overeducated Painters, and today we're here to talk about painting doors. Something that you might have quite a few of in your home. Now, one of the tricks with doors is, as you can see from this one type, there are a lot of edges. And as you know from maybe trying to paint yourself, edging is what separates a professional job from a bad job. Nice, crisp, straight lines are very tough to do. We have steady hands because we've been doing this for so long. And it is a little tricky, but when you take your time and do it right, it's so worth it. Now, this is one of the more difficult doors that you know you only count in your home, and it does take quite a bit of time. There's two types when you're dealing with this. Ones that have the grids built in, and the other ones where they're removable. Now this makes this nice and easy, because you can put this on a drop cloth, paint a little quicker, and not have to worry about getting paint on the window, and coming back with a razor and cleaning it. So, this is one type of door, and here is one of the more common door types. You've got your six panel design, and as you can see from this one, we're going to be priming and painting this. They don't like the stain anymore, so they want to go with a nice traditional white, and in a case like this, this is definitely where a professional is needed, because we're going to caulk all these areas, we're going to sand everything properly, prime it, then sand again on top of that primer to make it even smoother, and then put a couple of coats of high-quality paint. And of course, the main thing when you're dealing with doors like this is, you always paint with the grain. Not against it, because then you're going to have these weird little marks. So it's that detail and quality that we take our time to do to make this look wonderful, and like brand new. Again, I'm Albert McDonald with Overeducated Painters, talking to you about how to properly paint a door.
