My name is Nick Marine, third generation master plumber, located here in Marietta, Georgia. Dishwasher tips: one tip on a dishwasher is when you are selecting a dishwasher make sure that you have the energy star rating. The energy star rating is very important because the dishwasher and the washing machine besides your toilets are very very high water users or abusers in your home. One thing I do want to mention about the dishwasher that is really important make sure if you have a hard surface top that the people that put in your top predrill underneath the top and put in brass inserts because a lot of times it makes it very difficult for your plumbing professional to install these units if they are not predrilled in a hard surface. Because if a plumber tries to attempt to do that or even a homeowner, you could crack the top and spend thousands of dollars. So when you are selecting a dishwasher, they are all standard 24 inches. There is no brain or rocket science to it. I will tell you that using a state licensed master plumber is a lot better than using a, you know a home center or a place that you buy like an appliance store because we will address and check your water pressure. We will check to see that the right water supply is there. We'll check to see if there is any restrictions and also make sure that it drains proper so you're not getting methane gas back in your home. So you know, you can go out there and get some basic price of installation and that doesn't include anything that brings it up to code. So call a plumber, go to E Local Plumber's website, do a Google search for a licensed plumber, contact your local Chamber of Commerce or something of that nature and just look for a licensed plumber and then they'll lead you right. One of the biggest overlooked problems in a dishwasher is people just go out there or a homeowner will go out there and call up and have a dishwasher replaced by anyone, their neighbor or a handyman and they don't check the water pressure. The water pressure is very important because it could be high or too low and affect or destroy the solenoid valve or internal working parts or the pump of this dishwasher. So make sure you call a licensed plumber because there could be things like they use plastic hose instead of stainless steel or copper. They could be making the drain go into an area where it is creating methane gas to enter your home and causing tired and sickness and dizziness. So make sure you have a licensed professional install it because you want it the right time, you know, do it right the first time.
