My name is Lonnie Perry. I'm the owner of Majestic Plumbing. I'm also a Master Plumber. Today we're going to talk about common bathtub problems. One of the most common bathtub problems is tub's not draining properly. Generally, that's from hair. They gets clogged in the drain right at the tub. You can use to clear that out yourself with a coat hanger; with a little, little hook on the end of it that will catch most that hair and just pull it out. Save your service call from the plumber. If that doesn't take care of it; you can have a major problem down the line. At that point, you definitely want to call a professional before you try and take anything apart, because if you try and take something apart on a bathtub, you can cause more damage that can really increase a plumbing repair bill. Another common problem is dripping faucets. Very common because of high pressure in a home or they just get worn out. Now when we go to repair shower valve, we have the shut the entire water off to the house; drain the entire system down before we take anything apart. If not, you can cause a major flood and cause thousand of dollars with the damage. You want to avoid that. Call the professional definitely. Now on shower heads, a lot of people like to replace their own shower heads. We commonly run into a, a problem where people replace their shower heads; they don't use the proper sealings; they don't tie it down properly. They ended up with they get a leak in the wall where the shower arm goes up into the wall and makes the connection in the, in there. At that point, you have a hidden problem and you don't know you have problems; so water shows up somewhere or you have mold. Another problem is you can get a crack in the tub especially fiber glass tubs. Now when you get a crack in that, you cannot repair it. You must replace it. Call a professional. Another problem which could also save you a service call is water getting on the floor outside of the tub. If you ever notice any water either below a bathroom or you know, cause in sealing or just on the floor outside; look to see if any water's getting out of the tub and on the floor when you're taking a shower. You can check that by running a paper towel along the wall, in the shower, in the back wall and see if there's any water on there. If there is, try and control that water from getting on the floor; can save you a service call and a lot of damage.
