Hi, I'm Albert McDonald with Overeducated Painters, here to talk to you about faux painting. We got a lot of calls where people want faux painting; but they often don't know what they want. They just say, "Hey, you know; I want some faux painting." They are like, it's kind of like walking into a bookstore and just asking for a book because there are thousands and thousands of different faux techniques. You know; like what you have here with wood, we can simulate wood. We can simulate a marble. It, the list goes on and on. We do things called color blending; stripes. The funny thing about the fact that it's called faux painting is, it's not really fake paint. The name faux painting was created to replicate wallpaper which wallpaper was created to replicated painting; making it more consistent and, and more inexpensive to do that's why you do wallpaper. You know, create a pattern, etcetera. Well, truly doing that in paint is really the way to go if you can and of course you need a professional for that. We recommend to our clients; if they do not have an idea of what they want; to get, go to the library, there's magazines, there's books; even the depots carry those for you to take a look at and get a feel of what would go nice in your home. That way when you bring the artist over who has a repertoire of thousand of techniques; you can show him what you like and then you can work together to figure out that perfect faux technique for your home. And then of course they're going to make you a sample board so that you approve that and you can move it around the house to see how good it's going to look. And then have the faux artist do his work; his art; his magic.
