SENSEI CAMERON OKUBO - Head Instructor

Sensei Cameron Okubo is very passionate about martial arts and it shows in his teaching. He loves working with his students of all ages, from White Belts to Black Belts. He not only has great talent as an all around martial artist, but he also has an incredible talent to communicate with people of all ages.  His style of teaching focuses on positive reinforcement.  This style creates a better bond between the student and the instructor through trust and respect for the individual.  And it helps to avoid the fear factor or intimidation that some students may feel towards the instructor and helps to ensure that the students have fun and want to come to karate.

Families frequently comment on one other unique aspect of Sensei Cameron that is different than they have seen in many sports, including martial arts. Sensei Cameron is humble, plain and simple. He earns the respect of his students and families rather than demanding it.  His desire is to have his students succeed and have fun. He does not put himself above everything else. As such, our students benefit from better decision making and flexibility while still honoring our school, instructors and the martial arts leaders and traditions of the past.

SENSEI JORDAN OKUBO - Head Instructor

Like his brother, Sensei Jordan has a true love of the martial arts.  He is known for his zany sense of humor and not being able to stand still.  He is constantly working on hand combinations or weapons releases.  He definitely keeps people entertained while also ensuring the best learning experience for the students.

In July and August of 2012, Sensei Jordan Okubo attended the prestigious Sharkey Karate Boot Camp offered by Master John Sharkey. The Boot Camp was 34 days of intensive training and conditioning. During this time, he joined Team Sharkey and began competing in NASKA. Just a month after camp ended, Sensei Jordan won First Place in Extreme Weapons at the NASKA 3A rated AKA American Open in San Diego. A month later, Sensei Jordan won First Place at the 2012 NASKA 6A (Top Rated) Diamond Nationals in Extreme Forms. He was also selected to participate in the 2012 Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade where he performed his Extreme Martial Arts with a group of 25 people. He will be representing Team Sharkey during the 2013 NASKA Season.

Sensei Jordan has had additional training by visiting Sensei Sharkey over a weekend and attending the Sharkey Karate Winter Camp between Christmas and New Years in 2012.  In 2013, he will attend the Sharkey Karate Boot Camp once again.

Students of o2 Martial Arts are fortunate to have Sensei Jordan Okubo training and competing at the highest level of martial arts. Sensei Jordan brings back the knowledge that is gained by working with Master Sharkey, his amazing instructors, teammates and other competitors.  Sensei Jordan then shares this knowledge with his students.

THE Extreme and Traditional Martial Arts School in Colorado. Led by Sensei Cameron Okubo and Sensei Jordan Okubo, we believe that nobody in Colorado can combine our experience in Traditional Forms, Self Defense, Extreme Forms, Weapons, and Sparring. OUR TEACHING PHILOSOPHYAt o2 Martial Arts, we believe in:- Positive Reinforcement: Our students are treated with respect as we identify opportunities for improvement and a continued education in the martial arts way of life.- Earning The Belt Rank: Without this expectation, we diminish the accomplishment when promoting and also diminish the accomplishments of all that have earned that belt in the past. - Continuous Improvement and Education: Our instructors work with some of the top martial artists in the world. They attend and/or compete in the North American Sport Karate Association (NASKA) to further experience the latest trends and skills at the highest level. It is important that our knowledge remains "fresh", not stale. What was done fifteen years ago can be very different than it is today. Sensei Cameron Okubo and Sensei Jordan Okubo have been widely acknowledged as having a unique balance of knowledge, teaching ability and interpersonal skills. Communication, involvement, consistency and positive reinforcement are keys to the student's continued motivation and improvement. Top it off with the ability to make training FUN and they have the perfect combination. PARENTS: What does this mean to your child? It means that we provide a positive learning environment that not only teaches them to respect others, but they are also shown respect from the instructors. It also means that we have a partnership with your child. We strongly believe in the need to communicate well with the parents as well as the student. Our partnership with you can only be successful with 100% commitment from both parents and instructors. If we were to offer only 10%, it would not be fair to you.
