I remember growing up the Avon Lady would come to the house every two weeks like clockwork. She was always dressed very fancy in her blue business suit and perfectly done makeup and fingernails. Oh how I remember wanting to be just like her when I grew up. The best part of her visit was that she was armed with tons of samples! I would anxiously await for the chit chat between my mom and her to stop so she would reach into her Avon sample bag and pull out the samples. My absolute favorite was the lipstick samples that came in the little white tubes...I can visualize them perfectly. I always knew that she had selected mine especially for me because you could barely see any color in them. That did not matter though because I knew that they were mine....all mine. Occasionally there were the extra special visits when she would hand me the little foil wrapped sample packets that contained the most amazing fragrance strips. I would rip them all open at the same time and rub them all on my wrist and neck. I was convinced this was how the grown-ups did it and there was nobody on earth that had more beautiful lips or smelled quite as lovely as I did when I did this. However, in retrospect I don't think that was the way Avon had intended anyone to sample all of their wonderful scents. In fact... I am sure that was not the preferred way for my mother OR the Avon Lady to smell me! I am convinced this was the beginning of my makeup addiction.....I love Avon and all of the endless looks and color pallet's I can create. Hello....my name is Rhonda and I would love to be your Avon Lady! That is a special memory of mine growing up.....I remember it like it was just yesterday. It is fascinating how just a simple thing like the Avon Lady coming to the house can remain such a vivid and happy memory for me after 40 years. I now have a 33-year-old daughter that without fail calls me every other Thursday to see what the Avon samples were. I guess the apple didn't fall far from the tree because I saw that same glitter in her eye when I started selling Avon. A few things have changed over the years like the fact that Avon sells SO many fabulous products these days. I just love the diversity in their product lines because it makes looking through an Avon Catalog so much fun!! The first page I always turn to is the Lipsticks......have you noticed all the different types of lipsticks there are these days???? There is a reason that Avon sells four tubes of lipstick every minute world-wide. Avon carries most any type, shade, color and formula that you can possibly imagine. Every other Thursday I get to reconnect with that little girl inside of me because when the UPS driver delivers my Avon shipment I cannot wait to get to my free samples. I think I love Avon even more nowadays that I am an adult because now I can wear all of the lipstick shades....even the dark ones!
