My suitcase was damaged by United Airlines: the handle was broken, and the plastic support feet on the bottom were broken off, making it impossible to use the suitcase anymore. I will have to buy a new suitcase. United said my claim for damage was denied. They said these kind of damages occur all the time, and the insurance does not cover them. I find this a very self-serving policy. Since United Airlines baggage handlers rendered my suitcase useless by careless handling, United should be responsible for reimbursing me the cost of a new suitcase of comparable value. I am reporting United to the Better Business Bureau, and will consider using another airline the next time I travel.
