I have never been on a float trip before, so I relied on the NRO staff to inform me about what was needed and what to do. When calling to reserve a raft, I was asked if I wanted a 4 or 6 man raft. Based on that question, I assumed there was 2 sizes to pick from. It was only going to be me and my fiance in our raft, but we wanted enough room to have 2 coolers and to sit comfortably, so we rented the 6 man raft. (The 4 man raft is a $80 rental and the 6 man raft is a $120 rental.) You are required to pay for the raft rental about 2 weeks before the date you need it. When we arrived this weekend, we went to the main office to check in. The manager asked why we had the 6 man raft with only 2 people to float in it. I explained why, to which she replied, "Well there isnt much difference in the size." So I said, "Well, should we switch them then?" She said, "No, it's ok." So I assumed she knew what she was talking about and left it at that. The next morning the bus picked us up and the cabin. Seeing the amount of people and how many rafts we had, the bus driver asked why we had the 6 man raft. I explained to her the same thing. She then informs me that there is no differece in the 4 man and 6 man rafts. It is the same raft literally, they have only one style and size. Of course I was very frustrated with that, and confused as to why they were charging so much more for the same raft, saying it was a "6 man" raft. We reached the bottom where we were to get our rafts and being to float. The bus driver went in the building to speak to the owner and explain my situation, trying to help me get a refund for the $40 I had paid for a "larger" raft. Sitting on the bus, I heard the owner call the front office over the radio. He explained the situation, to which the manager then told him I argued with her and insisted on having the 6 man raft. Again, obviously frustrated, I went inside and spoke to the owner. He then informed me that if I wanted a refund, I needed to go back to the office to get it. Of course this would have made everyone on the bus wait to get on the water, and with the office being at least 5-10 miles away, I told the bus driver I would do it after floating. That night, no manager was available, so I had to wait until morning. The next morning, I went to the office and again tried to speak to them about getting a $40 refund. The manager argued that she told me there was no difference in the rafts (which is not what she said) and continued to say I had demanded the "6 man" raft. Which obviously makes no sense that I would insist on paying more if I knew it was the same raft. The owner told me if I had come back to the office before floating he would have given me a refund, but since I didnt, he would not refund any money to me. He said the raft charge is $20 per person with an $80 minimum. Which was also never explained to me. He also said that they deal with this issue daily and have at least one person trying to argue with them about the raft price. (Which obviously is evidence that there is a problem with how they trick people into paying more.) He refused to even listen to my points and told me I was to leave that second. This is the treatment I recieved after my party rented the most expensive cabin for 2 nights and 3 rafts to float once. We spent more than $1000 on a one day float. Yet, he refused to refund my $40 that I had paid due to their obvious trickery. I will NEVER spend another dime of my money at this location. They are nasty people who STEAL your money!!! Again, DON'T SPEND YOUR MONEY HERE!!!!
