Warning To Others

I dealt with a threat from the electrician; roof not being repaired or covered with tarp resulted the second time in being splashed by rain water inside while using the toilet; blocked sewer (even though I ran water in the kitchen sink as required) mold and the last was needing a weekend to finish getting out, denied, not able to get out personal property (including a medical jel pack I forgot was in the freezer), my things labeled as garbage, removed and disposed of the following Thursday, not allowed to go back in even though I left a pleading message on the business phone and then the manager Julia reported I left a LOT OF GARBAGE inside and outside of the mobile for my background check. I'd come up on Kier Housing, but they denied me, as has another person for the same reason, resulting in being homeless. As of this date, of the last 4 months, I've slept nearly 6 weeks in my car. I am a senior citizen.

Water was turned off yearly for various reasons while I was there. Dates will be provided in my blog.

They treat you nice to get you, then let you live in horrible conditions without proper maintenance

I have only a few things to say. Do not under any certain terms move into this park. The trailer park portion of the company is ran by family that do not care about customer service, are racist, and rude to the tenants. The maintenance staff are under qualified, unprofessional, and rumored to be drug addicts. People are moving out! Residents who have lived in the park for 10+ years are all leaving because they are tired of the park getting worse and worse the positive reviews on this site are from friends of the family, and direct family members. You might be asking yourself how can a company stay in business with this kind of reputation and treatment its simple. Currently it is a renting market, the family has ties to both local, and state political officials, and the management will rent a modular to anyone that is able to put the deposit down and the first months rent. Residents suspect four homes dealing drugs openly. Four out of the six maintenance men (Rob, Steve, Jay and Bill) are known drug users and not trust worthy. If I were able I would stand in front of the park with a sign daily to keep others from renting from this horrible horrible business. Dont let the low prices fool you because you really get what you pay for. The rental properties are falling apart, the sewage system is crumbling and falling to pieces, sewage floods happen on a regular basis, the water system constantly breaks. If you don't believe me just ask around the park, ask residents. I was a resident of 20 years and I have never lived in more of a horrible place or heard so many horrible stories. I am only speaking out because I think people should be aware of what they are getting themselves into.

dear oppressed1 ready to move & others

REACH Inc is a non profit Manufactured Homeowners association not affiliated in any way with Manufactured Park & Community owners or management. It was formed by Homeowners who were tired of the continual harassment and oppression of abusive landlords& poor park conditions. Contact us for help & to learn how much power you have! 801-637-1168. Got to www.umhag.org I myself have walked through this community, it is in better condition than several in the area. This situation happens in every manufactured home community, as does the experience you report of your dealings with management. I'ts worse in others. Before you further consider the mass expense of moving, you should form & register a Homeowners Association. This will make your community a better place to live, motivated by the residents. Several families have moved from one community to another only to discover that the problems exist in the new location, or are even worse. Residents need to join together to help one another

I agree with oppressed1

Since I have moved here (years ago) I have learned that I can't take anything to management. Furthermore, Park Village still has it's share of crime. I have had two bicycles stolen from my porch, including one just last week. The last time that I mentioned this to management, I was told that they didn't care. Of course I knew that it wasn't managements problem--I just wanted my concern to be heard. Evicted residents still frequent the park in their 40k cars bought with drug money. Speeding through the park is a main concern, etc. So much for the park's neighborhood watch! If you plan to rent--plan to do your own repairs. If you bother them with a request, you will be patronized. I have watched people come and go from this park. It is not child friendly! I have known several families that have been evicted because of their children. In fact, management is constantly threatening evictions! I'm sure that I would be threatened with eviction for voicing my opinion here today.

great work

I my self currently live here in the community and it has come a long way all the staff here are great. yes some times repairs may take time but they also have other residents having patients is part of being an adult. Joan and merlin do amazing and I am happy to call this home. Love that your close to everything gas stations, shopping and HAFB for those of us military family's. The rent is affordable and very reasonable. Great place to raise a family and if your worried so much about a park for the kids there is layton park up the street,

In Response to Not So Happy by oppressed1 on 9/14/2010

It sounds like you had a bad experience, and we are sorry about that. We work very hard to assist the residents and want renters and homeowners alike to feel welcome and at home. We do take offense that we were compared to a concentration camp, if you are unhappy you may move, no one is forcing you to stay. We are on the crime free program with Layton City and therefore do not allow any new residents with a felony on their record to live in our park, including sex offenders. We do thorough back-ground checks on new residents in an effort to maintain a strong community. We are doing everything in our power to “clean-up” the community and insure there are no drug dealers. We have a systematic order to repair items on our manufactured homes, based on need. If your problem took longer to remedy, we are doing our best and are comparable with any other building complex or park. If we didn’t care about the residents we would not care about the state of the community, your concerns, or even

Stupid Opressed1

I just want readers to understand the truth about Park Village and its outstanding management. I read the comments by "opressed1" below left on 9/14/2010 and it sounds like someone whom is bitter due to eviction or personal problem! I have lived in Park Village for over 3 years and have always been impressed by the manner in which issues are addressed and taken care of! Joan is extremely friendly and understanding regardless if the situation! If you live here and just follow the simple and basic park rules then there should be NO REASON to have any issues with the Parks Management. The rules are simple guidelines to insure your safety, security and peaceful atmosphere while you stay here. If more mobile home communities had guidelines and management like Park Village provides then more of them would be appealing. I am thankful for them going above and beyond to weed out the bad element and helping to insure that my property and family live in a safe environment! I highly recommend it!

Not So Happy.

The current management has done a lot to curb the crime in this park, however they are "bothered" when you call them for any assistance what-so-ever. Whether it be to report a crime, or ask for assistance with a rental. Joan in particular is rude and ignorant to your concerns. They treat you like the scum on their shoes, especially the owner. I've personally been called some derogatory names. They don't care about the residents in their park. They only care about putting another dollar in their pocket. The playground in the back is dilapidated and the drug dealers are in close proximity. There was even a sex offender living in the park just recently. If you're looking to move into park village I would encourage you not to, or at least do your homework before getting stuck in this concentration camp.

I LIVE HERE NOW!!

I WANT PEOPLE TO KNOW THAT I HAVE SEEN THIS MOBILE HOME COMMUNITY OVER THE YEARS GO THROUGH MANY DIFFERENT CHANGES MANY OF THEM NOT SO GOOD,BUT NOW THE OWNER HAS A VERY COMPASSIONATE,HONEST,AND FAIR PEOPLE IN THE OFFICE. WHAT DOES THAS MEAN TO THE COMMUNITY THEY MANAGE? THEY HAVE BUSTED THEIR REAR ENDS OFF TO WEED OUT THE DRUGGIE'S,SEX OFFENDER'S,AND THE OTHER PEOPLE IN SOCIETY THAT MADE PARK VILLAGE AN UNCOMFORTABLE PLACE TO LIVE. BY DOING SO, THEY HAVE MADE PARK VILLAGE A SAFE, CLEAN, RESPECTABLE PLACE TO CALL HOME. SO MUCH SO I DECIDED THAT I WANTED TO CALL IT HOME MYSELF..,I HAVE BECOME A RESIDENT OF THIS COMMUNITY AND I AM VERY HAPPY THAT I FEEL SAFE,AND CONFIDENT IN THE FACT IF I HAVE ANY ISSUES THAT IT WILL BE DEALT WITH IN A TIMELY,SAFE,RESPECTFUL,FAIR,AND COMPASSIONATE MANNOR, AND I REALLY WANT PEOPLE TO REDISCOVER A GREAT PLACE TO LIVE AND RAISE THEIR FAMILIES! I DID AND I CANT WAIT TO SEE HOW MUCH MORE MY COMMUNITY GROWS FOR THE BETTER. SINCERELY,ONE HAPPY RESIDENT
