get what you pay for

Ever hear that saying? These guys did my driveway, summer 07. Had to put 10% down. Scope of work included applying weed killer and base.

The "weed killer application" amounted to a guy with a twenty year old broom with half the bristles gone, and a small container of supposed weed killer. He walked around the driveway splashing a little here, a little there. You would think the killer would be applied in the manner of sealcoating or something comparable.

The used my hose for water in the roller. That was fine, however my 100' hose was covered in asphalt and grease from them using it. There were chunks of overflow asphalt left in no fewer than 5 locations on my grass and the neighbors.

Before they finished, the owner was there wanting his check. He got paid and left. The crew finishes and they leave behind gatorade bottles, pop cans etc. They dont remove the stakes they put in the ground. As I walk the driveway I find sticks in the asphalt, area of the tapered edge that were not tamped. The owners son was there but he was busy loading up the equipment etc. to leave. One guy did remove a couple sticks and they re-rolled a little and re tamp some of the area. This guy even commented that " you would think the owners son, would at least walk the job with you before he left.

4 months later as it gets cold , sections of my driveway "heave" approximatelt 8- 10 ". I am told that is due to an improper base by other people. I called them and they tell me its due to the cold. Duh. Do you see roads and driveways that rise up and down? I now have a driveway with peaks and valleys, not formed and sloped as it should be.

Like I said in my first sentence...........................
