Established in 1949, WGAL activated WGAL-DT in 2001, which serves as the broadcaster s digital television channel for continuous operation. An NBC affiliate, the station is owned and operated by Hearst-Argyle. Hearst-Argyle owns approximately 25 television stations and manages an additional three television and two radio stations throughout the United States. The station provides local news, sports and weather in addition to standard programming and national news coverage. Its corresponding Web site delivers breaking headlines, desktop news and weather alerts, job listings, yellow pages and a community events calendar. WGAL employs more than 125 people and is located in Lancaster, Pa.
