- General Machine was started in 1964 by Ray Grein as a part time business to help prepare for the future education of his children. He started with a mill, saw, and a lathe in is garage at home. After about a year he was able to move to a location on Chestnut Street in Lancaster, Ohio and a short time later relocated to a location on East Main Street. In 2003 operations expanded to the present location at Commerce Street, In 2007 the operation was sold to present owner Terry DeVault (employee since 1974) who has continued with timely expansions (+11000 sq ft) and updates (Mazak Turning Center).
