I thought the reviews were wro...

I thought the reviews were wrong, NOT!!

I read the reviews but thought it was just mad residents,WRONG. I went there and was shown the SHOW apts. Everything was clean, new, fresh just like they said. We took the application and started to leave. My wife suggested we walk around the grounds without the management escort, to get a real feel of the place. I am so glad we did!!

We got into our car and instead of leaving, we pulled around to the back parking lot and parked. We spent about an hour walking around and talking to whomever would talk back. What we saw and heard made us rethink about moving in. We have decided to go ANYPLACE else.

Walking through the grounds we saw apts that use their patios to store garbage. The garbage areas had trash thrown on, around and near the trash dumpsters because it looked like the dumpsters were overfull. Graffiti on parking posts and on the back walls.

Large dogs barking down at you from the balconies (we counted 3 Pitt Bulls and 1 Doberman Pincher) even though it states on the application, No dogs over 20 lbs. The music was so loud and the bumping bass was giving me a headache. Tried to talk to several people, only to be given blank stares. Finally got 2 older men to talk about the complex and what they had to say was not very nice.

It seems that you pay water, trash and sewage to a private company. Only, they didn't tell anyone that they were setting up their OWN company and forgot to stop the other company from billing. People paying the original utility company, are now getting another bill, from Town Square, for the same period and the new bill being charged is alot higher!! When they talked to JAMIE, the manager of the apartments, her response was, Well, how am I suppose to know who is paying the old company. Main problem is that only the management of the apartments can stop the billing, tell the utility who to bill and not to bill. JAMIE and the TOWN SQUARE APARTMENTS didn't even bother to tell the residents that they were forming their own Water Billing system to warn the residents not to pay the old company.

JAMIE, the on site manager, even told the residents that it was up to them to try to get their money back from the original company, It's not the responsibility of this company to help get your money back. But, in the mean time, the tenants are responsible for the new bills. The gentlemen we spoke with said that the billing dates were from 12/31/2012 - 2/27/13, received in the mail on 2/28/13 and due 3/01/13. Late charges to be applied if late.

When they called the old company, they said that they billed WHO they were to bill, charged WHAT they were told to bill and WHEN the management company told them to bill. If you want your money back, it is up to the Management Company, Town Square Apartments, dba AMARGOSA APARTMENTS.

It sounds to me like, no matter how nice the SHOW APARTMENTS are, keep looking! Look around the grounds without the management puppets. Look at the patios and Garbage area for how they are kept, old trash mean COCKROACHES! Talk to the residents, if they will talk back. Walk around the parking areas and the play area. See the trashy upkeep of the apartments and what they actually allow. Hear the noise of the people you will be living near.

Yes, on the outside, this place looks nice but, when you actually walk the complex or talk to the residents, this place IS a GHETTO IN LANCASTER!!

KEEP LOOKING, YOU'll find a lot nicer places.

save your money, live someplace else

I moved in during June '12. Apts. that are shown, make a very good FIRST impression but, after living here, I wish I took a different apartment in a DIFFERENT complex.

I was told that the apt was freshly painted and carpets cleaned but, when the maintenance man showed me the apt on move in day, I pointed out the Pink paint stains on living room carpet, food splatters on kitchen ceiling and dirt and urine stain in corners of bathroom wall. Maint. Man told me I could either take this apt and have them do the repairs after move-in or delay moving until they did work. I have already signed the lease and was stuck. I had already given up my other place and had no choice.

When you move in, you are given a check list for things that need work. I filled it out and gave them permission to come in and fix these issues: bathrooms & kitchen faucet leak, bathroom drain doesn't(!), kitchen light switch is stiff to flip on, the light flickers, porch light has not worked since I moved in. I think it only needs a bulb change but, I'm still waiting! Was told, because of ins, I couldn't change it.

In the 7 months I have lived here, I have called 4 times about the repairs & was told each time that I was on the list and they were working on the list.

Apts changed owners, manager, same maintenance, office assist. 2 more calls and an in person request to get the items fixed. Got the same story so I told them that they no longer had authorization to enter without letting me know ahead of time. Was told that they would call for appt. but, light would be fixed. LOL. 28 days later, no calls and my porch light (that is OUTSIDE and don't need to enter apt to fix) is still out!!

The new owners are spending a lot of money on outside cosmetic work to make the apts nice on outside to bring in new tenants but, Nothing to retain the tenants that are here.

I CAN'T WAIT UNTIL MY LEASE IS UP!!

There are a lot of nicer, better maintained apts out there. Pass this one up!!

NEW OWNERS, NEW MANAGEMENT, NO MORE TENANT RIGHTS!!

When I moved in 7 months ago, I filled out a form with things that needed repair and gave maintenance permission to enter, with notification, to do these repairs. After several phone calls, and 1 personal appearance request for the repair to be done, I revoked my permission for them to enter without notification. At this place, that doesn't matter!

I came home from work tonight at 8:30pm. My front door was unlocked and it was really warm inside. I am positive I locked the door and the heater is programmed for 50 degrees during the day when I'm at work. With the horrible feeling of being violated, I walked into the bathroom, only to find out that I had been.

My old, leaky faucet was laying in the sink and a new faucet was half way installed. Gunk and crud that they pulled out of the clogged drain was tossed on the counter (less than 2 ft from the trash can). Everything that was under the counter was on the floor. Under the counter and on the floor were parts of both, old & new faucets, tools and tape. Oh, and NO WATER!

Called office to leave message before I called the police to report the break in, and was very surprised to get the manager, Jamie, on the phone. Told Jamie what happened and demanded and answer why this happened. Apologies and platitudes. Work order;Do not have permission to enter on them. No answers, lame excuse. Then, to add insult to injury, Jamie had the nerve to ask if they have permission to enter to get their items. Not to FINISH the job but, to Get Their stuff!!!

Save your money. Save your time. Save your right to privacy. Live someplace else!!!!!!

UPDATE: To get out of doing the needed repairs in my apartment, Amargosa Creek (Town Square) Apts. gave me an EVICTION NOTICE!! Said I was a dangerous person. I am a 60yr old cancer patient, a widow and employed full time. (Maybe the full time employment is what makes me dangerous! LOL) Have never been late with my rent or have had any of my neighbors complain about me. All I wanted was to be able to see the Key Hole to my door at night when I come home from work. To be able to use the light switch to turn on the lights(that IS what they are there for!), and not have all my water to run down the drain when I'm not using it!!

MAKE THEM SHOW YOU THE ACTUAL APARTMENT YOU ARE GOING TO BE IN BEFORE YOU SIGN THE LEASE. IF THE COMPLEX HAS A PROBLEM SHOWING THE ACTUAL APARTMENT...GO SOME PLACE ELSE!! If you are thinking of renting here, GO SOME PLACE ELSE!!!!

If you want loud, booming bass music at 3am, guys shooting Craps against the buildings, L.A. County Transitional housing, shopping carts in parking lot, loud noisy neighbors that management doesn't do anything about, then this place is for you!!
the security gates are a JOKE. Only thing they secure is the a record of the comings of the honest tenants that actually use the code.Gates open and I have see n 5 cars go on 1 code.
