Dr. Brenner is board-certified and fellowship-trained in Hand Surgery and completed a residency in Plastic Surgery. He also has several years of wound care experience. The main focus of his career has been hand surgery. What is your patient care philosophy? Don’t let the patient leave your clinic until you have answered all of their questions and treated or created a treatment plan for all of their concerns. Also, treat them as you would treat your family. What would you like people to know about you as a physician? I take the time to listen and establish a rapport with all of my patients. I also treat everyone with the same approach. I may not have the answers right away, but they will feel that I do care and I will not stop until their problem is solved. Why did you decide to become a physician? I always wanted to do something significant with my life. Medicine has allowed me to do just that. What do you enjoy most about working with patients? I most enjoy establishing a rapport with them and getting to know them. I also enjoy how they feel after I have helped their medical condition. It is very satisfying. When did you know you wanted to be a doctor? I have wanted to become a physician since age 5. Not sure why, but I am living the dream of a five-year-old! How does your work improve lives? I relieve pain and suffering. I also treat conditions which stop people from functioning normally. What are some interesting facts about you? I am an avid pilot and enjoy the piano. With what community and volunteer organizations are you involved? I started doing medical missionary work in 2018, and although the COVID-19 pandemic has prevented me from going to India on our yearly mission, I hope to get back to that soon. Would you like to share about your family? My wife of 37 years and I have 3 kids and a dog. What childhood memory do you have about visiting the doctor? None! It is much more fun to be the doctor than to be the patient! What else would you like to share with our readers? We have a fantastic group of dedicated healers here in the Orthopedic department. They are very talented, and I would be comfortable having any of them treating my family. Since I started at LRH, I have had unending support from the clinical and administrative staff. I truly enjoy the camaraderie here, and I truly enjoy my work.
