Vicki Kirby received her Masters Degree from the University of Central Florida in Health Sciences with her BS in Radiologic Sciences and Management. Vicki worked as a practice manager for a Family Practice Group for many years prior to joining State Farm where she worked for 11 years. While at State Farm, she worked in various positions and was a key member and instrumental in forming their SIU Organized Activity Unit who focused on Medical Provider Fraud. In June of 2003, she began SMI ( Specialized Medical Investigations ) with Carole Sheridan and Trista Ussery. Vicki was appointed by Governor Jeb Bush and approved by the Florida Senate to the Florida Board of Chiropractic Medicine. She is currently serving her second 4-year term on the Board of Chiropractic Medicine as a consumer member. She represents the citizens of Florida proudly. Vicki has been designated a Fraud Claim Law Associate ( FCLA ), Associate in Claims ( AIC ), Legal Principles Claim Specialist ( LPCS ) and most recently received her professional designation as an Accredited Healthcare Fraud Investigator ( AHFI ). Vicki is very active in medical provider fraud investigations and was honored with FIFEC's outstanding service award in June of 2003. Vicki has presented training classes to National Insurance Crime Bureau ( NICB ), Federal Bureau of Investigations ( FBI ), Dept. of Financial Services-Fraud Division ( DFS ), Florida Insurance Fraud Education Committee ( FIFEC ), the Dept. of Heath as well as to many insurance company professionals. Carole Sheridan received her Bachelor of Science degree in Business Economics in 1988 from Bloomsburg University in Pennsylvania. She began her insurance carrier in 1990 with State Farm Insurance in Florida as a casualty adjuster. In 1995, she joined State Farm SIU and began specializing in organized medical fraud investigations in Florida. Carole continued her specialization in organized medical investigations with Progressive SIU in 1999 and later joined their SIU management team. She was a member of the Progressive SIU Corporate Training Team and served as the Pennsylvania SIU Operations Manager. In June 2003, she joined with Vicki Kirby and Trista Ussery to begin Specialized Medical Investigations ( SMI ). In 2003, Carole was awarded the prestigious designation Accredited Health Care Fraud Investigator ( AHFI ) from the National Health Care Anti-Fraud Association ( NHCAA ). Additionally, she has conducted training classes at Florida Insurance Fraud Education Committee ( FIFEC ) conference. Trista Ussery received her Bachelors in Business Administration from Loyola University in New Orleans. She was a claim representative with State Farm Insurance for 10 years handling bodily injury, uninsured motorist, and PIP claims. For five years she was a member of State Farm's SIU unit dedicated to investigating and fighting organized medical fraud. In June 2003, she joined with Vicki Kirby and Carole Sheridan to begin Specialized Medical Investigations ( SMI ), which is an independent adjusting firm. Trista is a licensed adjuster in Florida and has her SIU designation with the Department of Insurance. She is among on of the nations first to receive the prestigious designation of Accredited Health Care Fraud Investigator ( AHFI ) from the National Health Care Anti-Fraud Association ( NHCAA ). Additionally, she has conducted training classes and done SIU consulting for various organizations locally and nationally, some of which include Florida Insurance Fraud Education Committee ( FIFEC ), NICB ( National Insurance Crime Bureau ), the Department of Health, insurance companies, and the DFS-Fraud Division.
