Two Rivers Psychiatric Hospital is a 105-bed treatment facility, located in Kansas City, Missouri. It is a recognized leader in individualized treatment for a broad range of psychiatric disorders. Continuing its tradition of excellence, Two Rivers offers comprehensive behavioral healthcare and stabilization for adolescents, children, adults and seniors. At Two Rivers Psychiatric Hospital, seven disciplines work under the direction of the medical director/psychiatrist and experienced program director to facilitate comprehensive, individualized treatment. These plans may include redirecting behavioral, trauma-based, compulsive, and addictive disorders. Through its professional, multidisciplinary team of psychiatrists, psychologists, professional nurses, social workers, and therapists, psychological illnesses are treated as complex and interdependent. This team often utilizes a dual - or multi-problem focused approach - to effectively address behavioral, trauma-based, and addictive disorders. Team communication is facilitated by professional case managers. Relapse-prevention techniques provide patients with new skills that encourage more successful recoveries. To promote healing, significant family and referral source involvement is encouraged.

Five Star Service

I submitted the above the review "I Found Hell on this Earth" of Two Rivers Psychiatric Hospital and their staff. I retract the entire review and wish I had never written it and made it available for the public to see. I was angry at the time I wrote the review because I have been diagnosed with bi-polar mood disorder. I have been a patient at Two Rivers Pyschiatric Hospital on multiple occassions, and every time I am discharged from the hospital I am in a better condition then at the times of admission. I apologies to Two Rivers and their staff. Working closly with one of their doctors I have found an opportunity to receive an ongoing treatment for my condition and am currently more stable than at the time I wrote it.

My sincerest apologies to anyone I may have offended.

Wouldn't recommend it

I would definitely not recommend this facility to anyone. I recently had a family member go there & the staff was extremely rude & made them feel even crazier than they were already made out to be. My family member tried to get a booklet signed so they could get off unit & the staff didn't sign it for days, so they stayed on unit & couldn't leave the area. The psychiatrist wasn't very good either. He told my member that they could get off unit, then never wrote a note so they could. I know this is a tough place to be, & it's not supposed to be peachy & fun, but the staff definitely didn't help under the circumstances.

I would definitely not recommend this facility to anyone, unless shock treatment is all you are after. The staff was rude, and was nearly impossible to work with. It really felt that it was all about the money, and had nothing to do with helping the patient. It took two hours to simply check in, while being left alone in a waiting room with no TV control-and it was stuck on an episode of Family Guy talking about crazy people and suicide. No protocols or procedures given to new patients that felt scared, alone, and wondering if they would actually get out. In fact, threats to hold under the law was thrown out more than once. Very little communication was given to family members, and at one time we spent 4 hours in the waiting room trying to get answers. My advice, stay away. Try Shawnee Mission or Valley Hope in Atchison.

I found Hell on this Earth!

Crimes against humanity take place at Two Rivers Psychiatric Hospital on a daily basis. As a patient at Two Rivers I was subjected to psychological and emotional abuse that haunts me to this day. Once admitted/committed one quickly adapts the philosophy "survival of the fittest". Coercian, deception, and fear are the "hospital" staffs tools of the trade. Once properly drugged, the victims/patients will comply with nearly anything to find a way out! Some actually try to kill themselves for a reprieve from the living hell they now find their lives have become. Under the pretense I would receive family counseling, I went to Two Rivers in the fall of 2009. I was admitted for having hypertension, more commonly referred to as high blood pressure. My insurance company was fleeced to the tune of over $12000 for my 6 day stay. I found it quite ironic that there is a man employed there as a "doctor" called Dr. Kahn (or Con). One must be conned to get admitted, then lie to get released!
