If you place an order with the...

If you place an order with the bakery, you definitely need to call and confirm that they are making what you ordered! Better yet, bring a picture or drawing then check hours or even days to make sure they understand. I requested an Elmo character cake for my daughter's 1st birthday. The lady repeated my order back to me and wrote something completely different on the order sheet. When I went to pick up the cake, I received a small cake with a street designed on the top and ABC 123 along the side. Where was Elmo? They gave me Elmo in a car as a cake topper. To say that I was disappointed is an understatement. When I told them this was not what I ordered, the cake decorate muttered this is what was on the sheet and walked away. After stating several times that they made what was on the sheet, the manager offered to take off $5 but it solved very little. Would I really be trembling with rage and near tears if I made the mistake? The worse thing is to have somebody else screw up and then waste time trying to convince you that you messed up. Seeing that I don’t live in Kansas City and it was 30 minutes prior to the party, I was stuck with cake that tasted horrible and that I didn't want. This place lacks compassion, customer service and listening skills. They really deserve something in the negative but it’s not an option.

Beautiful store, in my 'hood, too bad the service sucks

I've shopped here for years. And often ask myself why I do. The service stinks, especially in the deli department, which is part of the reason I go there to begin with. And I'm not sure they care. Read my blog post for specifics.

From now on, I'll head to Hen House - where they are ALWAYS happy to wait on me. Always.

Your neighborhood gourmrt supermarket

This neighborhood market is a real gem. It has a very large selection of fine wines, a well- stocked deli, a great seafood area and a wide variety of products to satisfy most shoppers' needs. Yet it has a friendly small-town atmosphere that makes you feel right at home.
