It maintains a law enforcement division that operates through the uniformed services and criminal investigations sections. The uniformed services section has the responsibility for general police patrol activities and responds to approximately 35,000 calls for service annually. The Kalamazoo County Sheriff's Office provides traffic law enforcement, traffic crash investigations, criminal law enforcement, crime scene investigations, peace officer duties, as well as civil law enforcement services. It operates a crime laboratory that provides forensic science support to the law enforcement agencies and maintains fingerprint card files.
