The following are some of the issues we have with Jim Woods’s Realty and Auction Company.
Mr. Woods’s approach for selling our mother’s estate changed often throughout the time leading up to the actual auction. On the day of the sale, his plan was totally contrary to what had been discussed during the time we were preparing for the auction. At first, we thought Mr. Woods was having memory issues, however, after the sale we learned that several other people have had the same experience over the years with Mr. Woods and company. We did not find him true to his word. We learned our lesson too late to have all the plans in writing.

During the auction, Ashley Woods acted as the auctioneer. He was very disrespectful to my mother’s belongings. He spent a lot of time degrading items and very little time taking bids. Some of the comments that he said that day were: “This is the ugliest lamp I have ever seen. Who would ever buy anything like this? This is from Kmart. This was a Kmart special. Who in the world would want this?”
These comments and many more were said throughout the auction of our mother’s personal items. Several people left the auction because of his hurtful and disrespectful comments. Many people have contacted us telling us that they did not have a chance to bid. Ashley would stop the bidding after the first bid, moved around from area to area not allowing the crowd time to follow before selling items.

We were promised that everything would be sold on the day of the auction. We were told by Mr. Woods that all the household items would be boxed up such a way that they would get the best price. However, many items were not boxed and one entire room was sold for $10.00. Several attendees overheard Ashley saying that the auction would be over at 1:00 and it was, even though there were several items that had not been put up for bid. When the auction ended, there were massive amounts of boxes full of items remaining.

Please do your homework before signing a contract with this company. Don't make the same mistake our family made.
