The Indiana Historical Society has been operational since 1830. It collects, preserves and interprets Indiana s history to a variety of audiences through historical resources, statewide educational programs, publications and activities. The society features aWilliam Henry Smith Memorial Library, which offers a collection of photographs, pamphlets, books and more than 5,000 processed manuscripts. The Indiana Historical Society s conservation and preservation imaging departments provide comprehensive conservation laboratory treatment and reformatting of originals via microfilm, digital scanning and conversion services. The society offers outreach services to nonprofit historical societies, museums and special collection libraries that include historic document preservation programs. It conducts various exhibitions, meetings and seminars. The Indiana Historical Society is located in Indianapolis.
