Absolutely the most frustrating and insulting experience of my life. After seeing a dog on their website that I very much wanted to adopt, I filled out the voluminous required paperwork, which includes all the usual information (references, phone numbers, history of all the pets I have ever owned and their detailed veterinarian information) and took an hour to complete. I officially applied to adopt this specific dog and waited to hear from the shelter. Nothing for two days. I called the listed telephone number and got voice mail. Left a message, received no answer. Left six more messages over the next week, still received no response. Sent text messages, received no response. Finally got a terse email stating that the dog was adopted by someone else. Thanks for nothing! Couldn't you have told me that earlier and saved me hours and hours of effort? These people are the very height of rudeness and insensitivity, yet they represent themselves as caring saviors.

Avoid this rescue! While the woman I spoke with was responsive (unlike other rescues), I was told the cat I was interested in was 3 years old and in good health. I drove an hour to meet him. Vet said he was 8 years old (at least), had fleas, diarrhea, cat flu, and had been shaved heavily. I have 2 dogs, so the whole house had to be treated. To say I am unhappy with this shelter is an understatement. They are known in the rescue business for sloppiness in care and documentation. Wish I had known that.

Adopted two dogs from this shelter so far. One turned out to be almost a perfect dog I ever had. The other one we recently adopted got a bad infection within two weeks of adoption. The dog had been taken care of by a foster who was fostering more than several dogs at a given time. I believe she was a sole care giver for all of those dogs she had at home. On the day of our adoption, our dog arrived in really dusty and dirty body as well as extreme odor, also she was very skinny. Clearly nobody even got her a shower for a long time. She also had obedience issue, constatnly growling at people when she is chewing something.

The management people are always slow to respond to people's inquiries and letting their fosters keep multiple dogs at a time. Usually rescue organizations strictly limit the number of dogs/cats each foster can keep at a time. But obviously such rule does not apply to Last Chance, that's why some of their animals are not well taken care of by the fosters. I will never adopt any animals from this shelter.
