Founded in 1913, the Hillside Fire Department works to provide professional fire and emergency services to its citizens and the community of Union County in New Jersey. It works closely with the New Jersey State Fireman s Mutual Benevolent Association. The department maintains an emergency medical services division. The Hillside Fire Department annually provides fire prevention demonstrations to local public and private elementary schools. Its training division practices firefighter safety and escape plans, as well as offers classes related to vehicle extrication, fire tactics and strategy, and search and rescue. The department has a fire prevention bureau. The Hillside Fire Department also conducts cooking safety classes.
