Jefferson Elementary School, located in Hawthorne, Calif., is one of the premier schools in Los Angeles County. Governed by the Hawthorne School District, it has an enrollment of more than 600 students in grades kindergarten through five. JES follows an intensive academic program for every student. Its curriculum and textbooks follow the state standards and district guidelines. Curriculum includes foreign languages, language arts, physical education, mathematics, science, music, social studies, special education, technology and art. The school provides various activities and programs, such as principal s honor, spelling bee, geography bee, science fair, superintendent awards, student council, parent-teacher association, choir, media center and literary clubs. JES offers many sports activities, including golf, cheerleading, track, tennis, basketball, baseball, soccer and swimming to students.
