James R. Gordon, M.D. is a Board Certified Ophthalmologist and Oculoplastic Surgeon with over 19 years of experience. He has performed thousands of procedures including cataract, LASIK and major cosmetic and reconstructive surgeries. He has particular expertise in the handling of challenging and complex oculoplastic cases. Dr. Gordon has once again been named as one of Castle Connolly’s “Top Doctors” and is proud to be recognized as one of New York’s best doctors. Dr. Gordon obtained his undergraduate degree from Emory University and his medical degree from Sackler School of Medicine. During Dr. Gordon’s residency at St. Vincent’s Hospital in NYC, he was appointed Chief Resident and he founded the Cosmetic Clinic of Cabrini Hospital. His fellowship in Oculoplastic Surgery, also at St. Vincent’s Hospital, advanced his surgical skills and passion for eyelid aesthetics. Since then he has published numerous papers and has given extensive lectures on ocular disease and eyelids and facial cosmetic procedures. Most recently, Dr. Gordon held the position of Section Chair at the last two Aerolase International Clinical Summits held in New York City. Dr. Gordon is a pioneer in the research and development of the LightPod Era – the world’s first portable erbium laser for skin resurfacing. As a certified trainer in this laser, Dr. Gordon is instrumental in the training of many physicians throughout the country. Dr. Gordon is best known for restoring and enhancing his patients’ appearance while preserving a natural look. In addition to his busy practice, Dr. Gordon brings his passion and commitment to patient care through community service and volunteer work – including visits to nursing homes and involvement in surgical relief work in India.
