...we arrived at 5:30 as a party of 7. We attempted to make reservations earlier in the week but we were told we could not due to our party being smaller than 10 people. We were told our wait would be 10 to 15 minutes which seemed reasonable since the front dining room was not full and very few people at the bar. After a half hour wait and many people coming and going we inquired as to when we would be seated. We were told the table the Host meant for us was actually a reservation for 10 people that he did not realize but had been booked for weeks...seems an oxymoron but we waited longer and after 45 mins we left. No one apologized or even offered an explanation as to what was happening. Sadly, my husband did not have his birthday dinner at the Maplewood in Hammonton as had been planned. Even more regrettably, some people in our party stated they will not be going back.

I was very disappointed by the service I received at this establishment. My family and I took my daughter out for her 21st birthday Our waitress was horrible. We barely saw her and when we did anything we asked for was always responded with a "hold on" and another disappearance. Only for her to return and ask what we wanted again. She served our food, never asked us if we needed more water or anything about the food itself. She had zero personality. The food was okay at best. Some people of my party were content with the meal while others were not. My pasta dish was served to me 15 minutes after the rest of my family had been served. It arrived with the pasta drowning in liquid and the dish overflowing in it, the chef was obviously in a hurry and didn't drain the pasta properly. My daughter was very unhappy with her $26 fish entree, that was no where near gourmet. It was rubbery, tasted way to fishy, and was over cooked. Then as we finished the meal, our waitress finally returned to us when it was convenient for her and asked if we wanted to wrap anything up. I asked for mine to be but asked her if she could remove the liquid before she put it in the "to go" container. As she proceeded to grab my dish, she began to spill all the excess liquid over my daughters leg, without even a word or an apology she looked at what she was doing and walked away. To top it off she made us wait an additional 15 minutes after the meal to return for the check and finish the transaction. All in all from the reviews of what I read prior to going I thought Maplewood was going to exceed my expectations and I was sadly mistaken. The service ruined the experience for me and my family and the celebration of my daughters birthday dinner. At those prices the service and food should be excellent. I'm not looking for perfection, but what I got at that dinner was a huge

love this place! it is old school with incredible food. the meatballs are to die for!

I am as fanatical of a food gourmet as they come. Joe Italiano's Maplewood Resturant is SECOND TO NONE anywhere in NJ, Philly or the five boroughs. It is the ONLY of the TOP FIVE Best Italian Resturants in the tri-state area that is outside of Little Italy and it is FAR SUPERIOR to the others.

I am not family nor friend of owners just an honest person compelled to tell it like it is.

I've had the majority of their menu over past five years and HAVE NEVER been disappointed. My family travels almost 50 miles to this destination from our home.

ITS THAT GOOD. The facility and staff aren't formal by any stretch of the imagination. Dress casually. The modest atmosphere is reflective of the prices but not the food or portions. You WILL take half of your meal home and microwave heated it will STILL be the ABSOLUTE BEST you've ever had anywhere.
