The acquisition of Tony Mandina's Restaurant in 1980 started as a real estate venture. While working as a furniture executive Tony Mandina worked on the restaurant on weekends and after hours. His plan was to lease the building as a restaurant after repairs were finished. However, upon completion, Tony, Grace and their three daughters decided to open the restaurant themselves. On November 15th, 1982, the doors were opened. The place was small and modest. In the beginning, Grace managed the business while Tony remained in the furniture business. After a few years, Tony joined the restaurant full time and with his full concentration, the business began to expand. Before long there was another expansion and then another to its present status. Tony and Grace invite you to dine with them and enjoy the culinary delights that have made Tony Mandina's Restaurant a New Orleans tradition.

Can count on them

I was pleasantly surprised by the dishes I was served. I ordered the meatball appetizer. The meatballs weren't as good at I could make at home but very tasty nonetheless. The accompanying tomato sauce was very good. The entre was a special of the day, some sort of corn and potato soup with fried catfish on top. It was very good. I would give it a 8.5 out of 10. The service was excellent and the owner greeted us at the door. Although I didn't find this restaurant to live up to the hype that my coworkers built it up to be. I give this place the thumbs up. I was just expecting something different, but that doesn't take away from the excellent experience I had here.
