Lea Ayer is a graduate student attending the Counseling Education program at Adams State University in Alamosa, CO.  She is expected to graduate with a Master of Arts in May, 2015.  She received her BA in communications from Northern State University in Aberdeen, SD.
Using a Christian lens, Lea approaches counseling by looking at all aspects of life; mind, body, spirit and environment.  Lea focuses on solution-oriented and cognitive behavioral counseling theories.  What we believe about ourselves and the world around us affects our behavior and our feelings.  Reframing and learning new thought processes helps us to change our thoughts, which in turn helps us to change our behaviors.  Knowing that change can be difficult to process on our own, Lea incorporates prayer and God's forgiveness into therapy sessions and treatments.
Lea also uses Splankna theapy to help clients clear any emotions and false beliefs that may be blocking the healing process.  Please see www.splankna.com to learn more about how Splankna works.
Lea helps individuals and couples cope with a variety of issues.  Lea is most interested in assisting with those who are coping with chronic illness, facing terminal illnesses, or caregiver stress.  Lea also seeks to help those who are going through major life changes (marriage, growing family, divorce, death, "sandwich generation", career change, etc.).  Lea is also interested in those experiencing trauma and grief.
