The Main Street Recreation Center maintains a basketball court, play area and playground. It operates administrative and recreation offices. The center is available on a rental basis for birthdays and dance and theme parties. The Main Street Recreation Center is a part of the Glen Ellyn Park District, which was established in 1919 as an independent government agency. The district offers more than 400 programs for infants and senior citizens annually. It operates over 25 parks for recreational and programmed activities, such as youth soccer and softball. The Glen Ellyn Park District has an outdoor aquatic facility, playgrounds, lakes and nearly 20 multipurpose parks. It maintains the Glen Ellyn Parks Foundation, which provides financial support to the district and develops funds for scholarship needs and capital items.
