shame shame shame. Amazing how word travels, isn't it?

Havin' a hard time let'n this go, gotta warn someone .... "Don't break down anywhere near Gillette, WY !!!"Made a run to Missouri, coming back to Montana through South Dakota and through Wyoming. Before the trip, I put two new Dunlop E3's front & back, included tubes and rim strips. Had a rear flat maybe 30 miles East of Gillette, WY. Saturday evening, called the dealer in Gillette and told them of my issue, they said they were closing, I had the bike towed in and to their credit, they allowed me to store my bike there till Monday morning. I told the service manager (Calvin) that I just needed the flat repaired, he looked at me and with what appeared to me to be a "faint smirk" said "we don't repair, we replace". I explained that it was a new tire, there was that "smirk" again, and he said it was a "liability" issue. I'm try'n to get my head around that, and decide that I will just have to "bite the bullet here" and buy a new rear tire. As my friend Calvin is sit'n there writing out the work order, he looks up at me "with smirk" and said "you know, if we don't have a tire that matches your front tires tread pattern, we can't mount the rear tire". That was like a broadside, I said "what are you tell'n me, I gotta by a new front tire too ?". He said that all they carry is Dunlop tires, I told him my tires are Dunlop, he said all they carry is the "regular" Harley Davidson Dunlop tires. He went to check and was gone for maybe a minute, came back "with the smirk" and said they didn't have a matching tread. Inside I'm fuming, it's a brand new Dunlop E3 front tire, I don't need a new front tire !!! Calvin said "its a liability issue" ??? I told him that I would sign a waiver, they wouldn't be responsible. Calvin "with smirk" said they don't do that there, I said they allow me to sign a waiver at Glacier HD in Kalispell, MT, again with "smirk", we don't do that. You see where this story is going, they would not fix my rear flat unless I bought two new tires from them. They had me and they knew it, I knew it !!! I picked my bike up at 11 am Monday with two new "Harley Davidson Dunlop D 402's" mounted on it. With my two day lay over at the local hotel and the $680.67 bill from the friendly, "we are the Harley Davidson family and we will get you back on the road" dealer, I was look'n at just under $1000. Now as I got ready to leave, I asked Calvin the Service Manager " do you offer a Military/Veteran discount" like they do at both Glacier HD & Grizzly HD ? Service Manager Calvin looked up at me from his desk, writing up my bill, and said "with that same smirk", "ya know, I don't know. That will be $680.67"....this story found on hdforums.com ... home to 70,000+ Harley riders.

Dealers like this are why I didn't buy a Harley.

Sad, shameful, dishonest service manager. I hope you get @ss fleas.

I'll push my bike past these guys

These guys will rip you off in a heartbeat. Push your bike away from this shop as fast as possible.

Australians won't even go there.....

As a resident of Australia I can't believe that a fellow American businessman would even contemplate ripping off travelers and a veteran at that (and many more that one!) on a set of tires when all that was needed was a puncture repair! I have a lot of Aussie friends who visit the US to ride every year around the Dakotas and Wyoming and you can guarantee that I will do my best to keep them from coming to your 3 stealerships.... You should be ashamed of yourself.... Mr. Owner - step up to the plate and make this right.

09/27/2013

A rip off...

This is what happens when you screw over a fellow veteran. Fire your service manager and change your "business practices" or face the consequences. I wouldn't buy water from you if I was on fire.

Ripped off

Had a flat on rear tire, had only been 500 miles since replacing front and rear with NEW, MATCHING tires. Was forced to buy TWO tires, THE EXACT ONES I HAD...Because that's the shop policy! The next tried to charge me 3 times the list price of the tires plus $150.00 PER WHEEL for mounting and balancing. I've NEVER paid more than 75 per wheel for computer mount and balance! Total bill should have been $450 TOPS! These jerks wanted $1295.00 FOR TWO TIRES!!! And then wouldn't lt me have my bike back unless I paid it. There is a special place in hell for people like this!

Avoid Service Department

This service manager doesn't use vaseline when he takes advantage of stranded bikers. He will do it with a smirk

09/25/2013

Not a dealer but a STEALER

Poor business ethics, charges for unnecessay repairs, estimates are always lower than actual. Need to replace service manager or send him to customer service school and ethics classes.

09/23/2013

This dealer is a rip off!!!!

Stay away from this dealer at all costs!!! They have a habit of prying on travelers that break down, an example recently of a fellow rider that was in need of a rear tire due to a flat. They would only sell him a set as the treads had to match. What a BS response to a rider in need, Rape him for another tire. Read about it here...http://www.hdforums.com/forum/general-harley-davidson-chat/901474-dont-break-down-in-gillette-wy-19.html

Horrible Service to traveler

After reading what you guys did to a fellow Harley rider and Veteran who only needed a tire repair, I will tell everyone I know to avoid your 3 dealerships when they pass through Wyoming. Absolutely disgraceful and greedy. Hundreds of riders have read about you on HDForums and word will spread. I hope to read on the HDForum where you made everything right to the victimized rider, although I doubt you will.

Caution

Their 2 for 1 deals are a scam.

09/12/2013

Enter at your own risk!

H.D. Should close this place down

09/12/2013

DEALER IS A COMPLETE JOKE from another hdforum member

steer clear of these rip off artists unless you like being bent over badly

09/10/2013

worst dealer ever - run away from them

What a crappy dealer...poor quality service in every way.....these people are like a dirty ugly blemish on a great brand like Harley. These are the type of folks who'll stab their own family in the back for a few extra bucks.....you'd be better going anywhere else.....heck I'd rather ride a moped than shop at this putrid place.

Stay away

You should be ashamed about the way you took advantage of our friend Dutch! From all the readers on HDForums.com Towed into your dealership with a flat rear tire on my 06 FLHRCI. Your dealership forced me to buy two new tire and charged me $680.67. I asked your service manager Calvin if the dealership gave a Military/Veterans Discount, all he said to me was "I don't know, and that will be $680.67"I had a flat rear tire ?????Invoice #330653

09/06/2013

I'd Take my ride to an Arab first!

After hearing what your service manager does to out of town riders in trouble your stealership should be yanked by HD. You are a disgrace to everything American. May Karma bless your health. HD Forums will fight your kind and bring our business elsewhere.

09/05/2013

Lower than Whale Feces

Read how your dealership treats out of state travelers in their time of need by charging them for tires they don't need to the tune of nearly $700. Service Manager Calvin sounds like a real piece of work.
