I first discovered A Better Bed in the mid-1980s when I was looking to purchase a pair of twin beds for our spare bedroom. Since then, I have purchased an additional three beds. I could not be happier with the price and quality of their beds. Bill, the owner, is a great guy and a pleasure to do business with. They have a customer for life and I recommend them to my friends and family.

So, you’re looking to buy a new bed and are reading these reviews to decide whether or not to trust this company with your hard-earned money. Save yourself the time and frustration and avoid those brand-name furniture stores at all costs. If you buy one of the brand-name beds, you’ll spend way more for their top of the line mattress. It will still only last about 3 months and you won’t get the kind of warranty you get at A Better Bed. This company hand makes all their own mattresses and they guarantee them for the life of the product.

01/07/2012: After doing a lot of web and in-person research on mattresses, I went with my wife and kids to A Better Bed tonight. Bill was very helpful (over the phone and in-person) explaining and showing all the different mattress layers and how he constructs his beds.

We asked our questions, laid on some beds, asked more questions, and then placed our custom bed order (he even worked with us to build us a mattress to address the fact that we are chemically sensitive to non-natural materials).

So far our experience is great!



Positives: We experienced great customer service, we're getting a custom-made bed, the bed is made here in the USA, and the price was the same as the least expensive Chinese-made beds from big mattress stores.



Negatives: Bill's showroom is not the cleanest (because it shares the same large room as his manufacturing facility). I did remind my wife (when she pointed this out) that I guaranteed she'd be horrified if she saw the facilities and conditions all other mattresses (Chinese-made) were made in!



I'll edit my posting along the process of receiving and sleeping on our custom bed.



UPDATE 01/14/2012: Wow, picked up our custom-made mattress tonight...only a week after ordering! Mattress is perfect and we are looking forward to sleeping on it. Will update after a few months of sleeping on it.
