My daughter needed some major repairs done to her car & took it in to Dave's to look over. They were kind enough to let her know it may possibly be covered by the dealership. She contacted them but unfortunately it was not. On April 27 she sent me a screenshot of the estimate. It was more than she could afford, so she asked if we could put it on our CC & she would make payments to us. We agreed. On April 30th I called them to confirm. My phone shows I was on the call 24 seconds, letting him know I was her mom & paying the expense. No questions were asked, though I know he had caller ID & could see I was not local. On May 3rd she texted to say her car was finished. I called Dave's to give them our CC information. I spoke w/Mark & he immediately told me that they do not take CC over the phone. I asked if I could email him the information. He said no, the card needed to be brought in. I told him that is a little difficult since I live in Missouri. He said "well we also don't take out of state CC or checks". I told him this info would have been helpful several days ago in order for me to send a check to my daughter for her to cash & go in w/cash to pay the bill. I explained that my daughter was on her way to our house that evening, driving her brothers jeep, then flying back the following day (May 4th) to leave for a trip for Florida. She wanted to have the car at her house so that she could leave immediately. He told me to send my CC with her & she could mail it back to me after paying. I said "you just told me you don't take out of state CC's". He told me there's nothing they can do, that's the rules. I told him I would like to talk to the owner. Thankfully the owner called me & was very apologetic. My mother lives local & was able to loan her CC. I wrote a check to reimburse her. A lot of hassle that could have been avoided from the get-go. The car seems to be running well after repairs. I just didn't appreciate their lack of communication.
