On a cold winter night when I had company visiting my house my furnace quit working. Quickly I looked through the phone book and picked the closest HVAC dealer Spring Grove Heating and Cooling to have the furnace repaired. They took a couple of hours to arrive and within 5 minutes came back upstairs telling me I had a cracked heat exchanger and I needed to replace my furnace. The repairman said they would make a special trip into his store in the morning opening it up for me to pick out a new furnace. He estimated the cost to be around $4000.00. Mind you this was Friday night with below freezing temperatures when he told me this grim news. This didn't cut it with me because I knew beside me freezing so would my water pipes. In desperation I then went downstairs to see if I could fix it. I then noticed a sticker for KRA on the furnace the company who installed the furnace originally. I called and a talked to Rudy the owner on the phone. He came out within 15 minutes of me calling and went to work. Within 10 minutes the furnace was running again. In amazement I quickly went downstairs and he showed me a charred dead bird on the floor he had removed from the furnace. Evidently the bird was standing over my chimney pipe to stay warm and was overcome by the carbon monoxide gas from the furnace. It then fell down the furnace pipe lodging itself in the impeller fan that sends the furnace carbon monoxide gas up the chimney. When the furnace could not get rid of this gas the safety feature of the furnace kicked in and stopped the furnace from heating the house. He gave me a bill for $100.00 and I gave him a huge tip not only for fixing it quickly but for his honesty in a day and age of crooked repairmen.

In the morning Spring Grove Heating and Cooling called wondering where I was because as he mentioned he went to the trouble of opening up his store for me. Believe me I gave him an earful and promised to tell as many people I know this amazing ripoff story.

To this day I continue to tell people looking for HVAC systems to call Rudy at KRA because he is one of the last hard working honest people out there! Rudy deserves more than 5 stars!
